GUIDELINES AND FORM OF PROCEDURE FOR GRADUATION DAY CONDUCTED BY AFFILIATED COLLEGES

GRADUATION DAY Form of Procedure


1. ARRIVAL OF DIGNITARIES
* All the members of the Faculty shall wear the academic robes prescribed and assemble in the respective robing rooms at the appointed hour. * The Chief-Guest will be received by the Principal / Secretary and the Members of the College Committee. * The Chief-Guest, Secretary, Members of the College Committee will proceed to robing rooms.

2. ACADEMIC PROCESSION
* The procession will be formed in the following order - THE PRINCIPAL
- MEMBERS OF THE HEADS OF THE DEPARTMENTS (in rows of two) - THE SECRETARY / MANAGING TRUSTEE - THE CHIEF-GUEST

* The procession will march along the Graduation Hall, and proceed towards the dais. * On the procession entering the hall, the candidates and guests shall rise up and remain standing. The College Committee Members will retire from the procession and go to the seats allotted to them in the Graduation Hall and remain standing.

* The Principal, Deans, Members of the College Committee and the Chief Guest shall proceed to the dais and occupy their seats. All others in the Graduation Hall shall resume their seats. --1--

3. INVOCATION
* The Principal shall say, "Invocation"

4. WELCOME ADDRESS AND REPORT BY THE PRINCIPAL


* The Secretary shall say, "Welcome Address and Report by the Principal".

The Principal will present Welcome Address and Report.

5. DECLARING THE GRADUATION DAY OPEN


* The Principal shall say,

"This Graduation of the College has been called to Distribute the Degrees/Diplomas in the Faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Education, Commerce upon the candidates who in the examination recently held for the purpose have been certified to be worthy of the same".
6. DELIVERY OF THE GRADUATION ADDRESS
* The Principal shall say,

"I invite the Chief Guest, . to address the candidates".


The Chief Guest will deliver the Graduation Address. 7. FELICITATION BY THE SECRETARY
* The Principal shall say, "Felicitation by the Secretary". The Secretary will felicitate the candidates.

8. PRESENTATION OF CANDIDATES * The Principal shall say,

"Let the candidates be now presented".

9.PRESENTATION OF CANDIDATES FOR DEGREES/DIPLOMAS/PRIZES AND MEDALS


NOTE:

RECEIVING

OF

Candidates receiving Degrees and candidates receiving Prizes/Medals shall go to the dais and receive the same from the Chief Guest by bowing down and proceed to resume their seats. The Dean / HOD of Arts will say

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
I present unto you the candidates IN PERSON in the Faculty of Arts who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees of this University. * The candidates shall be called to the dais one by one.

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
"I present unto you the candidates from the Faculty of Arts who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees and Prizes to be awarded". * The prize winners shall be called to the dais one by one.

The Dean / HOD of Science will say Mr. PRINCIPAL,


"I present unto you candidates from the Faculty of Science who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of this University". * The candidates shall be called to the dais one by one.

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
"I present unto you the candidates from the Faculty of Science who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees and prizes to be awarded". * The prize winners shall be called to the dais one by one.

The HOD of Education will say Mr. PRINCIPAL,


"I present unto you candidates from the Faculty of Education who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of this University". * The candidates shall be called to the dais one by one. --3--

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
"I present unto you the candidates from the Faculty of Education who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees and Prizes to be awarded". * The prize winners shall be called to the dais one by one. The Dean / HOD will say

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
"I present unto you candidates from the Faculty of Social Science who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of this University". * The candidates shall be called to the dais one by one.

Mr. PRINCIPAL,
"I present unto you the candidates from the Faculty of Social Science who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees and Prizes to be awarded". * The prize winners shall be called to the dais one by one.

The Dean / HOD will say Mr. PRINCIPAL,


"Under the Laws of the University, I present unto you IN ABSENTIA the following number of candidates who have been certified after examination to be duly qualified to receive the Degrees and Diplomas of this University in the respective faculties: " Faculty of Arts Faculty of Social Science Faculty of Science Faculty of Education Faculty of Commerce : : : : : Candidates Candidates Candidates Candidates Candidates

10. ADMINISTRATION OF THE PLEDGE BY THE PRINCIPAL


* * All candidates will stand up for the pledge. The PRINCIPAL shall read out the following pledge and candidates will repeat the same.
"WE SHALL, IN THOUGHT, WORD AND DEED EVER ENDEAVOR TO BE SCRUPULOUSLY HONEST IN THE DISCHARGE OF OUR DUTIES IN OUR PROFESSION AND SHALL UPHOLD THE DIGNITY AND INTEGRITY OF OUR PROFESSION AND THE HONOUR OF OUR UNIVERSITY". "WE SHALL UPHOLD AND ADVANCE SOCIAL ORDER AND THE WELL-BEING OF OUR FELLOW MEMBERS AND SHALL DEVOTE ALL OUR ENERGY TO PROMOTE THE UNITY AND INTEGRITY AND SECULAR IDEAL OF OUR COUNTRY".

11. DISSOLUTION OF THE GRAUDATION


* As the Proceedings conclude, the Principal, Secretary, Chief Guest and the Members of the College Committee shall rise up and the Principal shall say:
"I DISSOLVE THIS GRADUATION CEREMONY"

12. NATIONAL ANTHEM


* The Principal shall say,
"NATIONAL ANTHEM"

The National Anthem will be played and all persons in the Hall will stand up.

13. ACADEMIC PROCESSION BACK TO THE ROBING ROOM


* The Procession will be in the following order:
- THE CHIEF-GUEST - THE SECRETARY - MEMBERS OF HEADS OF THE DEPARTMENTS (in rows of two) - THE PRINCIPAL

* All Graduates and Guests will remain standing till the Procession leaves the Hall.
