The fitting shall be installed strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction on the relevant conductor. A tensile load equivalent to 5 percent of the conductor's minimum rated strength shall be applied and the conductor marked such that movement of the individual strands relative to the fitting is easily discernible; 2 Without any subsequent adjustment of the fitting, the tension shall gradually be increased to 10 percent of the conductor's minimmll rated strength and maintained for 60 s.

Acceptance criteria: There shall be no movement of the conductor relative to the fitting due to slip during the holding period of 60 s and no failure of the joint shall occur. Prior to the commencement of the test for compression partial tension fittings the performance of the compression dies shall be checked. The tension fitting shall be installed on the conductor strictly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions using the full range of compressors and appropriate die SIzes. Acceptance criteria: The dies shall fully close on each bite and the fitting shall remain straight after compression, with no damage to the jumper terminal flag or weld. For the heat cycle test partial tension joints shall be classified as class B and subjected to 500 cycles to a temperature of 125C with three short-time over current pUlses. 9.6.5 Sample Tests

Visual examination, dimensional, materials and finish including that of any coating e.g. galvanising, mechanical and resistance sample tests on all fittings shall be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of this Specification and lEC 61284. Visual examination shall also include comparison with archived type test sample. Where specified, similar test procedures to those used for type tests shall be repeated for sample tests. The test samples shall be selected at random from the batch(s) offered and the Owner/Engineer reserves the right to make the selection. If these samples meet all the test requirements, the batch(s) shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the Specification. In the event of a sample not meeting the sampling test criteria, the batch(s) shall be deemed not to comply with the requirements of the Specification.
In the case of ground wire bonds sample tests on 1 percent of the batch(s) shall be undertaken.

9.6.6

Routine Tests

Mechanical routine tests shall be undertaken on all castings and to fittings which are fabricated by welding in which the weld is stressed when the fitting is in service. A tensile load equal to the specified minimum specified damage limit shall be applied to the fitting and maintained for 60 s. Acceptance criteria: The fitting shall not be damaged by the test 9.6.7 Certificates of Conformity

When requested, copies of the following certificates/records shall also be forwarded to the Owner/Engineer: Type Test records, Sample Test records and Routine test records together with the certificate of Conformity. 9.7 Packing Finished fittings shall be adequately protected when packed to avoid damage in shipment. The Contractor shall adopt packing methods that are enumerated in Section 15 as a minimum requirement under this Contract.
