Question 4: Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product?

Age

Our primary age range or our thriller is !"#$4 year olds% This is the main age &ecause the main character' (ophie is !) and is in this range% *+e is also !) so the audience can relate to these characters as they are going through the same point in li e' understanding issues and the main traits o a modern day ilm% There is also a secondary age range ,hich ,as esta&lished rom researching similar types o ilms and it adds to the +ariety o audience ages ,atching it ,hich means it is suita&le or many ages ,hich can ha+e a &ig in luence in the success o this opening% The more people ,ho ,atch it' the greater the ,ord o mouth mar-eting and re+ie, rates ,hich are e.pected to &e high% The secondary age range is 4"/ &ecause it has the noir essence to the thriller ,hich is old ashioned and +ery common o+er 4" years ago so ,ould attract older generations to ,atch this% This ,as seen ,hen 0 loo-ed up an audience re+ie, on 0M1B o The Third Man ,hich sho,ed that the main ages ,ho rated it the highest ,as aged under !) and aged 4"/% The Third Man is similar to 2old 2ase as it has similar male characters and it is predominantly rated at its highest or these t,o age ranges% 0t has the use o noir to attract older audience ,hile also -eeping it modern and intriguing or teenagers and young adult

Age 3 (oundtracThe soundtrack plays a very important role to catch the audiences attentions so that they are fixated with the soundtrack as well as what is shown on screen. The soundtrack I used is a very classic thriller in the way it builds up in volume to increase the tensions and show the dangerous characters by the tone of the sound. This 'classic approach' is appropriate to add another concept to why our secondary audience of 45 would watch this for the classic sound along with the classic noir being embedded into it. !or example" the #arry $ime soundtrack is a classic from the film The Third %an which shows the characteristics of the characters which shows his good side but also it is a binary opposite since he is a murderer and on the run from the law. &lso" the primary age range of my thriller opening of '5()4 would also be interested with this soundtrack because it is useful to media students and also music students as it will help them create a tense thriller soundtrack. It can benefit them and give them ideas on how to produce this sort of music and wow the audience.

The gender to ,hich 2old 2ase is mainly associated ,ith ,ill &e emales% The reasons or this are that the protagonist is the emale ,hich is challenging stereotypes ,hich is important is sho,ing o that ,omen can &e the main character ,hich ,ill attract ,omen to see a dominant on screen male character in a noir thriller% A piece o research ,as done on a ilm called 5ill Bill and she is the predominant character ,ho is the leading emale ,ho is also challenging stereotypes%

The costumes worn by the characters are important as the audience can identify the tastes of the character which they can mirror them. If they see the same trends and fashions as they have themselves" they are more likely to have this film appeal to them and other similar films. This will attract the audiences to watch the films to see if they are able to relate to the characters and if so how much* !or example" in my thriller" +old +ase" the main character ,ophie" wears typical clothes of a middle class girl. #er clothes she wears are casual but are in fashion. This shows that other middle class teenage girls with similar tastes in modern fashion will be inclined to see it. &lso working class girls can mirror the character because even though it is expensive" many girls no matter what social class will buy expensive clothes and related to ,ophie. %ales who wear suits and who are interested in noir thrillers would also be happy to watch this thriller opening because the main male character" #enry $ime" wears a suit and a trilby hat to make him seem like he's from the '-5.'s period which older males and middle aged male would like" hence the secondary age range of 45 . !or example the Third %an shows males mainly in suits and also wearing trilby hats /#olly and #arry0. Teenage and young adult males can also be attracted to see this because of the females in it. They would be interested in watching a film about females which is popular in the of most modern young males. &lso the copycat killer is wearing a hoodie which is a common clothing worn by males within the current generations. &lthough the copycat killer only has a brief role in the opening" there is a reference of him from the film '1idulthood' where boys on a council estate wear hoodies and cause trouble in the neighbourhood.

9ationality:*thnicity

The main ethnicity ,ould &e White British &ecause these nationalities are dominating the mise en scene throughout' suggesting the types o ilm ,ill &e primarily or White British people% There is no e+idence that any cultures are in the opening and it;s &ased upon a White British location% (-ins <T= program> is a prime e.ample o this &ecause it creates the characters to it in ,ith the li+es o standard ,hite teenagers in a contemporary British society ,hich is also portrayed through our characters in 2old 2ase% 6o,e+er' this could &e appealing to other ethnic groups &ecause they get to see the li+es o British girls in a contemporary society ,hich can gi+e them a &etter insight into ho, ,e are treated and the ,ays in ,hich ,e are li+ing%

This film would be primarily for middle class people because although this film is low budget" it is a sophisticated and intellectual opening which is made to engage with the audience and make them think about what is happening and their ideas on their build up to the cliffhanger. It will make them think about what they have 2ust seen and develop this opening further. !or example" many T3 crime series such as ,herlock" ,ilent 4itness and +,I represent intelligence to work out the murderer in the cases shown and it keep you wondering and guessing throughout. #owever" this does have aspects of working !ish Tank is low "udget film won class culture because it is a low budget film but ,ophie is various awards of middle class heritage which shows the vulnerability to any class in society which working class can see. This was seen in a film called fish tank which was a low budget film and showed the life of a girl living in a council estate. This was for working class people because some audiences understand what they go through and the mishaps of a teenage working class girl on a council estate. $ow budget films have been known to be very popular and successful within the middle class range such as ,ubmarine and also This Is 5ngland which were 4arp !ilms and won awards for the representations being resounding truthful of society

Su"marine was a popular film and middle class audiences en#oyed this film

Media 0nterests
This film is iconic because there are many media interests which would attract audiences attention to view this film opening. The first media interest is being a fan of the film noir. This genre common from the '-5.'s and still popular in the late '-..'s which can be seen from films such as The Third %an and 6ilda. Therefore" this introduces the secondary age range of 45 because if noir was popular years ago" re(introducing it gives a chance for them to relive the moments in film they loved. &nother media interest would be media students studying media studies" especially at ,ixth !orm because" like me" the whole idea of this production is me researching and watching other different types of thrillers in order to create my own one. It gives students ideas and inspirations to make their openings as good as the ones they watch. I have watched many other thriller openings" from the big and famous films" ,e7en" to watching other media students openings. This isn't a media interest but it is an interest which will be very intellectual and be a fun thing to work for people interested or studying psychology. It has the psychological effects of a young teenage girl and there is an immense amount of enigma which can be interpreted in different ways e.g. it could be a time lapse" it could be a real day cold case where she's paranoid or there could be no cold case and she is losing her mind. This would be intriguing to a psychology student. This can also be showed from other T3 shows such as +,I and ,ilent 4itness which are murder mystery cases which enable the audiences to work out and guess who is behind the murder.
