4BIM A Construction ICT project funded by the Technology Strategy Board to develop software systems, interoperability processes and guidance, as well as to provide capabilities to help the construction sector meet the governments targets for use of BIM. Lots of information for download, including information about BIM, COBie and xBIM (open source software). http://www.4bim.org/en-gb/home.aspx BIM Academy A collaboration between Northumbria University and the company Ryder which offers consultancy, research, software development, training and education. The Academy has offered BIM for free events, as well as the opportunity to participate in a virtual project. There is also a blog. http://collab.northumbria.ac.uk/bim2/

BIMopedia (Building Information Modeling online) Website set up and run by Ben Malone, a Revit/BIM blogger, who maintains the BIMDiary on the site (events) and BIMDocuments (links to documents). He works for a company called BIM Technologies that is offering a free 12-week BIM training course called Campus. The course is based in Newcastle and is aimed at 19-24 year olds. http://bimopedia.com/

BIM Store A construction product library for BIM components, it claims to have them available for free download. http://www.bimstore.co.uk/

BSRIA A research organisation for building services, BSRIA offers a variety of BIM-related pages and sites: BIM Support, BIM Network, Soft Landings, BIM Talk. These contain guidance and information on training and events, as well as links to free downloads. Building Information Modelling (BIM) Task Group UK-government related website which helps to support and deliver government strategy for the industry, with involvement from many partners. Information and resources include: COBie UK 2012, COBie data drops,

Building Smart International International and not-for-profit organisation that supports open BIM through the life cycle, and develops and maintains international standards for open BIM. Has its own data dictionary, data model and processes, including IFC (Industry Foundation Class) and IDM (Information Delivery Manual). Latter are now incorporated into ISO standards. Construction Project Information Committee (CPIC) Supported by seven construction organisations (including ICE), the CPIC provides best practice guidance on the content, form and preparation of construction production information and disseminates it throughout the UK construction industry. McGraw Hill Construction BIM Special Section Website from the U.S. publisher, possibly associated with its magazines such as Engineering news record. There is a lot of information for free download, under headings such as research, case studies, products and news. You will have to register to access some of the reports.
