DI3DTM Surface Image Capture

DI3D uses standard digital stills cameras and normal photographic ash illumination to capture simultaneously one or more stereo pairs of images of a subject. Each stereo pair of images is processed using Dimensional Imagings proprietary passive stereo photogrammetry software to derive automatically a dense range map image. The range map images and original high resolution colour images are then merged together to form a complete seamless high denition 3D surface image. Unlike other methods of 3D scanning, DI3D does not require any pattern projection or laser scanning onto the scene. Instead, the image capture process is instantaneous and produces the highest resolution 3D surface images with true photographic quality.

DI3DTM 3D Capture Systems

Dimensional Imagings standard DI3D FCS-100 system is designed specically to capture high denition 3D surface images of the human face. It uses four 10 megapixel cameras to produce 3D facial surface images with highly detailed 20 megapixel surface texture maps. The DI3D FCS-100 includes everything that is needed to capture, manage and present 3D facial surface data. Each system is easily dismounted and stored in a robust wheeled shipping case and comes complete with tripod, background and calibration target. A laptop and stand are optional items. Custom DI3D 3D Capture Systems with up to 32 cameras with resolution up to 21 megapixels are available to capture larger or more complex volumes.

Dimensional Imagings DI3Dcapture software makes high denition 3D surface image capture quick and easy. DI3Dcapture integrates image capture and 3D processing into one easy to use application. Live on-screen multiple-camera preview makes it simple to ensure good subject framing. 3D images can be captured and processing initiated with a single click of a button. DI3Dcapture incorporates Dimensional Imagings highly optimised passive stereo photogrammetry software to quickly process captured stereo pairs of images into complete seamless 3D models. Data management is also made easy in DI3Dcapture with features such as efcient subject browsing, condensed single data le storage, thumbnail previews and close integration with DI3Dview.

DI3DviewTM 3D Viewing Software

DI3Dview allows even the highest resolution DI3D 3D surface images to be viewed at full denition so that every detail is clearly displayed. Several high resolution DI3D 3D surface images can be opened and viewed simultaneously in multiple views, increasing efciency and improving communication. DI3Dview features simple and effective landmark placement and 3D model alignment tools, ensuring that multiple data sets can be viewed in the same reference frame, making comparison intuitive and easy. DI3Dview is easy to extend and upgrade, giving you access to the tools you need. A range of optional plugins include: point measurement, advanced alignment, volume measurement, symmetry assessment, mesh conformation, re-texturing and morphing.

DI3D uses passive stereo photogrammetry to simultaneously capture 3D shape and appearance in a single instantaneous ash. Instantaneous capture makes it easy to capture facial expressions, or subjects, such as children, that nd it difcult to stay still.

DI3DTM Efcient Workow

The true photographic quality of DI3D 3D surface images makes it unnecessary to take separate 2D photographic images. One click 3D surface image capture with DI3Dcapture and close integration with DI3Dview reduce the time required to capture and manage 3D subject data.
