There is no cure for autism, but there are many early interventions and educational programmes that greatly

benefit the child's development. In the UK an organisation called Research Autism have a website where they list all therapies and interventions along with evaluations of how effective (or not) they have been. It is often the case that very young children with autism may appear very impaired by it, but as they mature, learn and develop strategies for coping they can become much more able. Autism is actually a developmental disorder, although I can understand why you'd classify it as a mental disorder--it is, after all, listed in the DSM. Semantics aside, no there is no cure. There is treatment that can help an autistic person interact a little better with society in general but nothing that can ma e him!her neurotypical.
