Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved..." Freedom is the ultimate desire of human beings. Uncontrolled use of chemicals for higher yields is leading the nation towards a vicious cycle of poverty. We, Diamond Bio Agro Pvt. Ltd, through our sustained efforts have been able to break free from this vicious cycle.
We, as a company take pride and proclaim that we are the only garden in this region dedicated to the highest standards of organic practices for taking care of our garden. However we are unable to unleash a quality product to the world because of lack of a tea factory. This project report explains in details all that we have been doing so far and our goals and vision.
Why Organic?
It was the realization that the soil is the most precious gift of nature given to mankind and that we human beings are heading towards destruction that the management thought of contributing to nature responsibly in a very minimal way by going organic. It was the belief that organic farming was the only sustainable way of farming that we decided to encourage bio diversity by putting a ban on any external inputs. As with all intensively farmed crops, conventional tea is routinely treated with a broad range of agricultural chemicals that are potentially harmful to farmers, farm workers and the environment. As opposed to most produce that is washed prior to consumption, most teas are air-dried without first being washed. The first time tea comes into contact with water is in our own cups, right before we drink it. This means that any harmful chemicals used at the gardens are released in our cups along with the tea flavour. At our gardens, we are committed to supporting organic tea cultivation to protect the health of farmers and the planet. Our garden is nourished without the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides Choosing organic not only preserves our earth's resources and protects the health of the farmers, but ensures that what is going into our bodies is 100% natural, made the way nature intended.
We have also been taking initiatives in motivating and training other small growers in its neighborhood to adopt sustainable organic cultivation practices for growing high quality tea leaves. The company plans to manufacture black orthodox tea as well as green tea from tea leaves collected from these tea estates to help these small tea growers get a better return from their small scale tea estates.
WAY FORWARD:
We intend to produce a very high quality green/orthodox tea under our own brand. Our vision is to produce the highest quality green tea of the plains. We will also be producing small quantities of speciality tea. We want to target the export market for selling this tea and we are already in talk with some buyers from Canada who have expressed their interest in visiting our garden. This would be a model for many small growers and would eventually convert tea growers to tea producers. This would eventually improve the overall quality of Indian tea since growers would take greater care of their bushes and the soil in particular. WHAT WE NEED IN THE WEBSITE?
