Notes on additional feedback on pretest performance In addition to scores, Cambridge English Language Assessment provides performance indicators for candidates taking part in pretesting for certain exams. This feedback is designed to provide useful guidance to candidates, subject to the following considerations: 1) Pretests are designed to fine-tune materials to ensure that they are accurate, reliable and fair. As such, some materials may be subject to further modification prior to use in live examinations. 2) Pretests do not necessarily have exactly the same format as live examinations. 3) For a variety of reasons, there is no guarantee that a candidate will perform equally well on two different occasions. 4) A candidates language abilities may change over time. The value of this feedback is therefore greater the shorter the time between the pretest and live examination.
