Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) and Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) Exam Candidates
All candidates originally scheduled to take the PCO or PATT exam on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Farnsworth Middle School test site in Guilderland, NY are being rescheduled for an alternate test date. If you were scheduled to take the PCO or PATT test at Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland, NY on Sunday, March 23, you are being scheduled for sessions that will be held this weekend at Albany High School. Sessions will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 29, 2014 and March 30, 2014. Affected candidates will be sent an email with specific test date and time information within the next 24 hours. Therefore, candidates affected by this test date change should ensure that this Department has a current email address on file. Any candidate who has a conflict with the assigned rescheduled date that is shown on the email should contact the Test Administration Unit by calling (518) 474-6470 or 1-877-697-5627. Candidates should bring their original Admission Notice to the Albany High Test Center as well as a copy of the email received by this Department with the new date and time assignment. If you have not received an email notice of your rescheduled test date by Wednesday, March 26, please contact the New York State Department of Civil Service Test Administration Unit at the above number. Please be advised that in order to ensure fairness to all candidates, you must remain uninformed about the test. You will be required to sign an affidavit stating that you have no knowledge of the contents of the examination on the day of the test.

Time Allowance for the Written Test: The time allowance for the written test is 3 Hours. Please refer to corrected information in the updated test guide on the Department website at: http://www.cs.ny.gov/testing/statetestguides.cfm

PCO Select Job Titles Questionnaire: The PCO Questionnaire is only for PCO applicants. The submission deadline for the PCO Questionnaire is Midnight on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. If you are interested in any of the select job titles and you plan to submit the questionnaire but have not

already done so, we recommend that you do so immediately. Candidates who fail to submit a Questionnaire will not be considered for select job titles. To access the Questionnaire, log into the PCO Dashboard at:http://www.cs.ny.gov/pco/

Change in Disabled Veteran Credit Eligibility


Article 5, section 6 of the New York State Constitution was amended to entitle veterans who have used veterans credits for a Civil Service appointment or promotion and who were/are subsequently certified as being a disabled veteran by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, to additional credits for a subsequent appointment or promotion. This Constitutional amendment, which is effective January 1, 2014, provides additional veteran credits to veterans who used non-disabled veterans' credits to obtain a civil service appointment or promotion with New York State or a local government, and, subsequent to such appointment are determined by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to be a qualified disabled veteran, as defined in the New York State Civil Service Law.
