Share Topology Performance

Performance of the Shared Topology feature has been improved. Most models show better performance, some significantly so:

improvement. Very complex surfaces slow the process. The new shared topology method is the default at Release 15.0.

Instancing Support for Multi-Body Parts

Share Topology now supports instancing for multibody parts using Automatic or Imprint shared topology methods. Significant total preprocessing time can be saved by propagating mesh specifications to all parts in a pattern.

Custom Shared Topology for Bodies

You can now apply a Shared Topology Method to bodies within a multi-body part. This allows you to specify sharing settings for individual bodies that are different from the rest of the part, giving much greater flexibility. Sliding contact surface (no shared topology)

Face Coloring and Display Legends for Shared Topology Type You now have an additional option in the face coloring dropdown list to color entities by their Share Topology type. The predefined list includes automatic, imprints, edge joints, and none.

Connect Faces after Shared Topology

Automatic Shared Topology is generally robust, but can fail due to:
Gaps between faces which are
larger than the search tolerance (upper right image) Limitations in the geometry kernel
Manual face connect may now be performed after Shared Topology

Internally moves face vertices so
that connect operation can succeed (middle and lower right images) Easy to create non-manifold geometry for conformal meshes

faces. Sharing fails between the enclosure and one internal body. Manually connecting the faces provides the desired topology sharing to enable conformal meshing.
