Thank you to Marlene Dreier for providing the muffins for our Sunday School to deliver on March 16th. Thanks to Deb, Kristy, Jodi, Marlene, and Joyce for driving the kids around, and many thanks to all the Sunday School kids who delivered the muffins. We made many people happy that morning! We have one last rotation this year, The Lord is My Shepherd, where we will be learning the 23 rd Psalm. In Cooking well be making Stick Together Crunch, in Art well be making a Resurrection scene with the tomb and the crosses, in Movies well be learning about trust and having Jesus in our lives, and in Games well be acting out Being Sheep Script. Our Preschoolers will learn that God is our Shepherd. Well be leading the procession into church on Palm Sunday, April 13th and there will be no Sunday School on April 20th, Easter Sunday. May will be devoted to community service projects: Mothers Day and Fathers Day gifts, flower planting, and clean-up and picnic in Powers Park. Our attendance has been picking up and were so glad! Were hoping everyone will join us for the next two months! Weve set the dates for Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 20th through Thursday, July 24th. Its not too early to sign up to attend or volunteer! Joyce Hanson, Director Peace Sunday School 320-528-2354 baskets@runestone.net

Stewardship of the Good News

Somehow this years season of Lent has been a particularly freeing for me, which sounds strange as it is often seen as the season of the church where the full weight of ones own sin is felt. But it is just that crushing feeling that has been freeing as Im reminded of the full freedom that Easter (Christs Resurrection) brings. Ever feel like youre caught under a heap of your sins, like they just wont go away? Ever felt the weight of a painful memory of a wrong, or been unable to escape your own shame? Ever really thought about the things we do and leave undone in our walk with God? Its a heavy burden living with all those mistakes hanging over our heads. And sometimes it seems like those things never go away. And then we read words from Romans 6:5-7, For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For whoever has died is freed from sin. In our baptisms, we are joined to the death of Christ through the promises of God. Think about it: we have died. We have dumped off the old sinful nature because sin cant get at a dead person. And we are then raised just like Christ to a new life with God. God liberates us from the captivity of sin. We have been freed. And we are reminded of that every Sunday as we confess our sins and receive Gods forgiveness. Romans 6:10-11, The death Christ died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Christs death on the cross didnt make us perfect it made us free. God frees us to live a life that can be dead to sin and alive in Christ. Therefore, sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace (6:14). You need not carry your sins with you. You need not let your past failings weigh you down for Christ has died for them, and risen again that you and I may have new life. So continue to lay your burden on the cross, be freed, and be alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Alive in (and because of) Christ,

~Pastor Matthew
