Task A

According to Galloway, Ball, Blomfield and Syed (1982), disruptive behaviours are any behaviour that can be seen as problematic, not suitable to be done and it agitates the teachers during the lessons. The teaching and learning is not one way process which is the teachers are the one who complete the lessons, however it takes to tango. The students as well play an important part in making the successful of the process. This is the reason, behaviours that can stop, halt and not making the lessons hitch will need to be eliminated and removed. There are many things that a teacher can do in solving the matters. However, the group counselling is one of the best things to do. Counselling is can be easily said as one person helps another through purposeful conversation. It can also be defined as a method of identifying practical solution to an identified problem. According to Bimbingan Dan Kaunseling Kanak-Kanak by Lee Keok Cheong, Ee Ah Meng, Suppiah Nachiappan, Taquddin Abd Mukti, there are many definitions of counselling stated in the that book, however Shertzer and Stone (1974) had defined, the counselling is a process of interaction which makes an individual understands more about himself and the environment which can mould the values and the aims as well goals of his life and in the end, it becomes the basis for his behaviours in the future. A group counselling is a familiar thing that a teacher has always done in the classroom. A group counselling will usually comprised of 6-8 people who meet face to face with 1 or 2 trained facilitators and talk about what is concerning them most. Members listen to each other and openly provide each other feedback. In a daily teaching and learning processes, teacher usually encounter with a lot of problems, havocs, troubles and nuisance. Hence, a teacher needs to know the skills of a counsellor to recognize attend as well as help the students who encounter and face the problems. The first skill is the skill of listening. This is a vital skill that a teacher should have and posses to conduct a very well being classroom. Listening is not an easy however it needs to be taken as seriously as possible. Listening skill is important to gather the information uttered by the students. . Listening skill encourages the teacher not to jump into conclusion, help the teachers will not become a judgemental person and it opens the opportunity to the teacher to break the ice and make the students feel comfortable with her or him. So when the wall is breaking down, the students will feel comfy to tell the problems and the teacher will be able to find the solution. For example, in a class, teacher should be listening to the students when they are sharing their thoughts and listen to their calamities and problem, as well as not acting as a dictator who just wants others to him. Then, by doing so teacher and the students will be able to achieve the mutual understanding

and it helps to reduce the anxiety as well as the problematic behaviours among the students. According to Mahler (1969) and Dinkmeyer (1971), when the teacher are listening to the students, attending and acknowledging the students problems, the students will feel appreciated and self of belonging will be strengthened thus will help them to heal the problems. Next is the skill of giving an attention towards the patients or the students. The counsellor who really pays attention will be able to understand the students and the patients. So, here goes the responsibility of a teacher to make the students feel appreciated, and it also evokes the sense of respect between teachers and the students. The teachers would be able to understand there are some actions that will indicate that a particular teacher does give an attention to the students or not. There are five aspects that a teacher should concern when they are dealing with the students in a classroom to embark the giving of attention skill. Firstly, the body posture of the teacher. Whenever the students are sharing the problems to him, teachers should come nearer to the students or at least, leaning towards the students. It shows the interest of the teacher towards the students problems. Then, the next is, the facial expressions. The teachers faces should be radiant and welcoming whenever the students are going to tell the problems or their thoughts. This can be a message to the students that we are willing to help them. Furthermore, the eye contact is one of the important matters that the teachers should do whenever attending the students problems in the class. If the teacher is making the eyes contact with the students, the students know that the teachers are interested and willing to help them. The students also trust the teacher and this will lead for betterment. Students who are having the problems will be paranoid in sharing their problems, if the teachers are not making the eyes contact, then the students will feel insecure and they are not willing to share. However, the eyes contact needs to be appropriate and if the students are not feeling comfortable with that, teachers need to change it. Apart from that, the teachers should practice the open-ended questions to the students and the patients. This will facilitate the students to talk longer and more about the problems that they have. Teachers should not ask the students the questions that will make them uncomfortable to answer because it does not solve any trouble. The information of the students problems are very essential in order for the teachers to find the root of the problems, ways to solve it and at the end, the problems are solved. The last aspect that lies under the skill of attention is the minimal support that the teachers should when handling the students problems in the classroom. It shows the teachers are paying attention to the students problems, thoughts and ideas by saying yes, so? Then? and that are the minimal support that the students should get from the teacher. Teacher cannot stay stiff and just

listening to the students without any minimal support because that will make the students feel hurt because they do think that the teachers are not paying attention to them and just pretending to listen. Those are the skill of giving attention to the students that should always be done by the teacher. The important thing is the teacher should not neglect the students whenever they are going to say about everything because, and they regard us as the first person that will solve their problems. Moreover, the skill of communication plays is one of the important skills that a teacher should master in conducting the teaching and learning processes. A teacher is the opener for the door that will lead the students to the garden of knowledge. But the medium to do so is good communication skill. A teacher should always understand the cognitive level and the maturity of the students by using the understandable language that can be understood by all the students. Teacher needs to deliver the lessons clearly and attend the students thoughts by using good communication skill. Teacher cannot use ruthless words or harsh words when dealing with the students especially those who create the problems. The sign that the students do not understand what the teacher is talking about is when they keep asking about the same thing over and over again. At the end, they will feel embarrassed to ask over and over again and they will be left out because of that. This condition is actually due to the lack of communication skill that a teacher has, so, in order to help the students that are facing the problems, teachers should always use the simple, understandable and comprehensible words that can make the students understand the lessons as well as the intervention that the teachers do to help the students problems. A good communication skill will make the

students feel better when they share the problems to the teachers. Apart from that, after they understand the lesson well, there will not be any room for them to create the problems and the classroom management will run smoothly just like Jacob Kounin has proposed. All in all, the skills that are mentioned above are essential to the teachers in conducting the lessons as well as imparting the counselling method in a classroom. We cannot expect anything from the students, so eventually we need to get prepared with everything that may exist and come in the middle of the lessons and the class. A competent teacher will just make the moments of the students in the classroom lively and they will feel attached to the school and of course the teachers because they know, they still have someone to listen, and be with them in any situation.
