Skilled in directing crossfunctional teams to design and develop products using best practices, creativity, innovation and passion. CORE SKILLS: Leadership: Over 10 years successfully leading the development of products from conception to completion, working effectively with global multi-disciplinary teams, and product roadmap planning. Led teams in areas of hardware bring-up, system infrastructure, protocols and management systems. Experience: Over 15 years of product development and management in delivering networking and video delivery systems and software. Led cross functional teams in all phases of delivery planning, definition and execution. Led concurrent programs in geographically dispersed locations demonstrating both traditional and agile structures. Projects included router/switch designs, data center networking technologies, routing and switching protocols, ASICs and related SDKs, data center orchestrations, network management systems, fiber channel technologies and embedded systems. INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE Dell/Force10 Networks, San Jose, CA (2010 2014) Software Director, Senior Software Director Dell Force10 is a division of Dell providing data center and enterprise networking solutions along with integration of Dells server and storage offerings. Key technologies: SDN/NVO (Openflow, VXLAN, OVSDB), Fabric protocols (Multi-chassis LAG, TRILL), Unicast/Multicast Routing and switching protocols, Broadcom SDK, NetBSD, SMP, REST, FCOE, Embedded Systems, Python. Led Software Engineering and delivered products and software that transformed Force 10 FTOS into high-performance leading edge top-of-rack and core networking products for next generation data centers. This effort was instrumental in Dells acquisition of Force10 Networks. o Led a multi-site team (San Jose, Chennai, Taiwan) collaborating with software partners and ODMs to deliver Force10 Networks 1G and 10G TORs (S60, S55, S4810). Work involved providing detailed specs to partners, coordinating with ODM for platform bring-up and diagnostics, and working with software partners to deliver the products. o Drove a swat team to deliver a Core Switch (Z9000) in a very short time to bring in critical customer traction and revenue to Force10 Networks. This resulted in a significant deployment of a new and disruptive paradigm Distributed Core in Data Center networking. Negotiated multiple business strategic partnerships and contracts with Third Party and NPU vendors which accelerated development and optimized the talent pool. Led several FTOS R&D efforts (Multi-site San Jose, Chennai, Petaluma, Plano) to develop key software initiatives critically needed for successful deployment of data center and campus applications. o Worked with cross-functional teams to deliver major software releases. This included

resource planning, managing capital and operating budgets, updating schedules, weekly program reviews and conflict resolution. Excelled in upfront planning, defined and optimized test and release processes, created best practices which improved cross-functional efficiencies. Effectively used both the waterfall model and a modified Agile method to bring out the best in operational efficiencies in the group. Worked closely with customers through several engagements on customer trials, pre-sales discussions and post-sales escalations. Continuously analyzed metrics to assess project targets relating to cost, quality, schedule and product ROI. . RGB Networks, Sunnyvale, CA (2008- 2010) Director Software Engineering RGB Networks provides solutions for cable and telecommunication operators to deploy nextgeneration IPTV services as a content distribution enabler to multiple types of devices as well as provide dense edge QAM devices to aid MSOs to consolidate video and data services in a single box. Key Technologies: Embedded Systems, SoC programming, Linux, Routing/Switching, Video processing, XMLRPC. Led Engineering and served as hands-on Program Manager for industrys first high-density carrier-class platform for the delivery of advanced standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 video processing solutions, including advanced ad insertion, program substitution, transrating and transcoding. Built the engineering team from the ground up (about 25 engineers) of bring-up/platform engineers and diagnostic engineers, system and protocol engineers, GUI/EMS engineers and release engineers. Turned around this project and delivered with very aggressive deadlines. Directed a scalable and highly-available, first to market real time transcoding blade using custom hardware and third party SoC solutions. This had become RGBs flagship product and a launching pad for RGBs digital program insertion, three-screen and video repurposing initiative. It won the TelcoTV 2009 Vision Award. Worked with third party SoC vendor to coordinate and implement the numerous details involving the integration of RGB Networks technologies using modified Agile techniques. Managed several alpha and beta runs with customers to get early validation of the product and incorporated their feedback. Software head for development of a carrier class highly available edge QAM device for SDV and VOD markets suitable for next-generation cable markets. Directed a development effort using a combination of off-the-shelf (Ethernet network processors and multi-core CPUs) and custom boards to build an industry first dense edge QAM device capable of delivering switched digital video (SDV) using Comcast NGOD/Time Warner RPC, on demand video (VOD), broadcast video, voice, and high speed data. Played a significant Engineering Program Management role in overhauling software development Created structure and engineering process that led to improved and measurable productivity of the engineering group. Streamlined application and manufacturing release processes for the multiple product releases. Vivace Networks/Tellabs, Santa Clara (2000 2008) Senior Engineering Manager Tellabs developed a large carrier-class multiservice edge router for deployment in Ethernet networks, ATM networks, IP virtual private networks (VPN), Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS),

Layer 2 VPNs with inter-working and IP/MPLS service network applications. Key technologies: Embedded Systems, ISSU, HA, OSE, ASIC SDK, MPLS, PNNI, Ethernet OAM, PPP, ATM, Frame Relay. Led a team to provide system software capable of providing an industry leading hitless upgrade feature that assured the service flows were not affected while the software upgrade took place. This got Vivace Networks in the forefront in many accounts and was one reason for the Tellabs acquisition. Directed a multi-site development effort to implement an industry first ATM PNNI based signaling and routing to inter-work in a MPLS network. This feature alone was instrumental in a multi-million dollar win for Tellabs. Managed the development of data forwarding software for Layer 2 (ATM/FR/Ethernet, PPP), IP and MPLS especially in the implementation of legal interception, ATM data forwarding, OAM (802.1ag and ATM) and PWE. Directed the releases of SONET, GIGE, DS3, IMA, GFP, SAToP, GPON and ethernet based line modules, some of the development activities involved multi-site coordination. Built an architecture team that oversaw the design of new features in the platform. Met directly with key customers and analyzed their needs and feedback to incorporate new software technology and better debugging tools in large deployments. Jetstream Communications, Los Gatos, CA (1999-2000) Software Manager/Team Lead Led a software team to re-architect software for a Voice-over-DSL Gateway (CPX 1000) to provide High Availability on GR-303 (on the PSTN side) and ATM connections (on the Network side). Key Technologies: Embedded systems, Linux, GR 303, ATM. Ported Windows applications into an embedded OS and adding redundancy to these applications (Call control and resource management) along with implementing fault management and switchover policies. Recruited a team and completed the project beating the original estimates by a quarter.
