Yes. Telephone interconnect is supported as part of the initial Linked Capacity Plus release. A single phone gateway repeater will allow you to initiate phone calls from one site and receive phone calls at any site. However, if you need to be able to initiate phone calls from multiple sites then you need at least one phone gateway repeater at each of these sites.

For a wide area individual call, free channels only need to be available at the sites where the initiating and target radios are located. For a wide area group call, free channels only need to be available at those sites associated with the wide area group call (note: the sites associated with each wide area group call are statically dened by the repeater conguration). If the required sites for a given call are available the call setup goes ahead, otherwise the initiating radio provides a call fail indication.

WHAt tYPE of roUtErS ArE rEQUIrED?

All the repeaters at a site must be on the same LAN (i.e. behind the same Router and plugged to the same network Switch - the Router and the Switch could be the same device). It is strongly recommended that no other device should be present on the LAN. The router should be hair-pinning capable router, so that repeaters at the site of the Master can use the public IP address of the Master. For more advanced security, a router with VPN capabilities can be selected. However, a VPN router requires at least 50% more ISP bandwidth than a non VPN router. For information on system design considerations, see the System Planner on MOL.
