7.

STRUCTURAL STEELWORK 7.1 Scope of Work Apply all labour, materials, equipment and services necessary for the erection of all structural steelwork as shown or implied on the En ineer!s drawin s and"or specifications. $emplates $emplates shall be furnished for the settin out of anchor and bearin plates. &olt 'oles (o site burnin for the elon ation of holes shall be permitted. Erection *i+ Erectin equipment shall be suitable and safe for the workmen. Errors in shop fabrication or deformation resultin from handlin and transportation that prevent the proper assembly and fittin of parts shall be reported immediately to the En ineer, and approval of the method of correction shall be outlined. Approved corrections shall be made at no additional cost to the Employer. *ii+ Anchor bolts shall be property located and built into connectin work. &olts shall be preset by the use of templates or such other method as may be required to locate the anchor bolts accurately. ,routin of bearin plates shall not be permitted until the structure is properly lined, levelled and planned, the bearin plates wed ed to a minimum of #-mm clearance, and the space under the bearin plates thorou hly cleaned. $he rout shall be of .ortland /ement 0ortar, with 11# cement to sand mi2ed as thickly as possible with a fluid consistency, and shall be poured and temped until the space is completely filled. *iv+ &earin plates shall be supported and ali ned on steel wed es or shims. After the supported members have been plumbed and properly positioned and the anchor nuts ti htened, the entire bearin area under the plate shall be solidly dry3packed with beddin mortar as specified above. Wed es and shims shall be cut off flush with ed e of the bearin plate and shall be left in place. After assembly, the various members formin parts of a structure shall be ali ned and ad4usted accurately before bein fastened. &earin surfaces and surfaces that will be in permanent contact shall be cleaned before the members are assembled. As erection pro resses, the work shall be securely fastened to take care of all dead load, wind and erection stresses.
