Sustaining the Stream of Life: Creating a Water Ethic through Community Professor Becky Abler and Cody Halvorsen
Water is essential to life: physical, biological, and spiritual. As Lakeshore residents, we are fortunate to live near incredible water resources, including Lake Michigan and our inland lakes and streams. It is essential to our quality of life that we all act as stewards to our water resources, and this is best achieved through collaborative efforts. UW-Manitowoc biology student, Cody Halvorsen, and professor Rebecca Abler will share their efforts to further understanding of how ecological processes and land management practices affect our local watersheds, and will speak about the mission of the newly formalized Lakeshore Water Institute to further water quality research and the formation of a water ethic in the Lakeshore region.

The day-to-day life of our fellowship is the glue that holds our spiritual community together. Unitarian Universalism approaches the more "secular" aspects of fellowship life with the same religious intent as its worship. Our religious education classes, adult activities groups, community volunteerism and building facilities committees FACILITIES are essential aspects of our spiritual work. We believe it is our deeds, not our creeds, which are most important. COMMITTEE Every day we have people helping the Fellowship in ways that allow our community to thrive. Whether you are a board member, on a committee, you make coffee, do dishes, vacuum, shovel snow, rack leaves, plan a garden, help coordinate a service or you do one of the other countless tasks, the time and talents you share is incredibly important for our Fellowship community. Please know you are immensely appreciated. Ron Kossik (Chair) Tom Clark Kathy Fishback Jim Rabata Dick Urban

ABOUT US
The idea for a local co-op began when a few friends realized they shared the same passion for locally grown and produced food. They knew a grocery cooperative could make local foods easier to find for shoppers and also increase distribution opportunities for producers. The co-op Steering Committee was formed in early 2013 and meets twice a month. We are following a 3-5 year timeline from our initial formation to opening the doors of the co-op based on guidelines from The Food Co-op Initiative. All are invited to take part in a vigil/walk promoting the role of women in the church at the annual Chrism Liturgy which takes place at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Monroe St in Green Bay beginning at 4 pm on Tuesday April 15.This event gathers all the male bishops, priests and deacons . We will begin gathering at 3:15 and stay until 4 pm. This will be the 3rd time we have done this and since this year it is later in the year, hopefully it will be warmer. People may bring a lawn chair and are encouraged to make signs. We do have the signs from last year. Members of the Lakeshore Pax Christi, Call To Action, and the Lakeshore UU will also be there. The purpose is to call attention to the injustice in the church in regard to gender and how a male dominated church is contrary to God plan. Hope many can attend.
The Volunteer Department at Aurora Medical Center is searching for a few good volunteers who are looking for a great way to make a valuable contribution to their patients, families and caregivers. These folks are to fill our regular service positions in the hospital with day time hours, to fit your schedule.
