1)30 pct of CO2 bottle leakage. Your action?? I will check if the vessel still complies with minimum reqd CO2 quantity requirements as per SOLAS and FSS code. Cargo space: 30 % of the gross space of the largest hold. E/R: 40 % without casing and 35 % with casing. 1 KG of CO2 covers 0.56 m3 of space. Refering to the makers installation manual, I will check which one of the above is the largest requirement on my particular ship. If complying, then I will inform office, and arrange for refilling at the most effective port. If not complying, I will inform owners and insist on arranging co2 refill immediately.

2)Angle of Loll: Check if it is really a angle of loll or a list caused by shifting of internal weights. If it is really a angle of loll, then, start filling DB tanks, of the smallest area on the low side first. List will increase. However it will result in lowering the G. Once sufficient positive GM obtained, then ballast the high side thereby correcting the list. If all tanks are full, then arrange for floating cranes, to off load containers from the higher side first.

Consider proceeding to port of refuge, arrange for Yokohama fenders 06/08 no fix at berth for safety and at least 04 no tugs assistance to berthing and followed by rearrange cargo. 3) Arrival pilot station.Masters concern Companys pre arrival checklist diligently complied with and completed. 4)US port stowaway onboard. Action?? Ensure that the identity of the stowaway is established. Try to identify name , nationality, travel document, port of boarding. Inform owners, charters, Agent , P& I , Coastal state, and flag state.

Ensure the stowaway is accommodated and food and clothing provided. Stowaway Working not allowed. Prepare a stowaway list. ( do not include in crew list) Seek information for procedure to repatriate stowaways. Usually it will not be allowed. Make an entry in the OLB. Carryout complete search of the vessel to look for other stowaways and belongings. Fill in form 104A as per SC 14/2006 5) Any new MARPOL regulation? Check Making of the load lines and deck lines on both the sides. Repaint if necessary. Check draft marks . Repaint if reqd. Check water tight and weather tight integrity of the ship. Chalk test, light test, water hose testing methods. Check for thinning or wastage of steel in way of hatches, hatch covers, . i.e general condition of the vessel. The inspector will look for adequate structural strength of the vessel. Recheck all information to be presented to the surveyor regd conditions of assignment of freeboard.

7)Forecastle goose neck corrosion. What will u do? Chip and paint Rubber packing, Butterfly nuts Hose test to confirm effectiveness. 8) Berthing ship. Stern line tighten. What is ur action? Slack the stern line Push fwd and aft tug together Pass fwd and aft breast rope then take weight equally. Adjust fwd and aft spring followed by head line and stern line.

If vessel have BT, then use BT and aft tug together, to bring the vessel alongside and adjust the spring fwd n aft followed by head n stern line.

9) What is the cause of Coeff B? How to correct? Coeff B has 2 parts. IB and PB. IB is caused by induced magnetism in the in the VSI components around the compass. Varies with the latitude as the vertical component of the earths field. Maximum at the poles and minimum at the equator. Max error on east west courses and Nil on N/s courses. Corrected by use of flinders bar .

PB is caused by permanent magnetism displayed by vessels permanent structures in the F& A direction. Polarity depends on the direction where the vessel was headed when being built. Corrected using F&A corrector magnets.

10) Port state and Flag state control?? Ans ; 11) How do you deal with garbage onboard?? Garbage management plan. In charge of garbage management officer/Crew responsible for garbage collection.

Segregation of types of garbage as per latest anx 5 amendments wef 01 jan 2013. A to H classes of garbage. Garbage locker. Dispose garbage as per rules in annexe 5. Refer placard. Garbage record book updated and garbage landing certificate to remain onboard for 3 years. Incinerator ash and expired medicines n narcotics to be landed and specifically included in the garbage receipt.

12) P& I club?? Ship owners and charterers enter into P& I to cover against third party liability. Protection means protection form exposure to 1/4th of the collision liability that the H&M insurance does not cover. Indemnity means compensation for ship owners for sums paid out in claims against them

Covers under P&I Loss or damage to cargo Crew claims Third parth injury and death Oil pollution liability. Special compensation for Salvage LOF salvage claims

Stowaways Ships proportion of GA when in excess of insured value. Detention of vessel in port.

16) Progressive flooding: Is the flooding of spaces which were previously not flooded. Such flooding may happen through sounding pipes, vents etc.
