Class : 4C Form 4 Chapter 8: Caring for the environment Lesson Summary

Date : 25/10/10 Theme : Environment Duration : 40 min

Day : Tuesday Level : Intermediate Time : 2.00-2.40pm

Teacher writes the word pollution on the board and asks students to brainstorm types of pollution and the effects of pollution towards our environment. Teacher shows them a newspaper about the oil- spilled incident at the Gulf of Mexico and asks them their opinion about the effect of the incident towards nature. Teacher will give them a text about pollution and ask them to read silently. After they read the text, teacher shows them types of preposition being used in the text and asks them to circle or highlight the prepositions. Teacher asks the students to sit in groups. Teacher gives each group a picture about different types of pollution and asks them to form 8 sentences about the picture with correct prepositions. After that, teacher assigns the students to write a letter to complaint about polluted river around their neighborhood around 200 words.

Learning Outcome : LANGUAGE FOR INFORMATIONAL USE Give information about the environment Learners Previous Knowledge Familiar with environment issues. General Objectives : By the end of the lesson, students should be able to (i) (ii) (iii) Relate their previous knowledge and brainstorm 5 main points regarding the effects of pollution towards our environment. Able to form at least 5 out of 8 sentences from the picture. Able to use prepositions like for, to etc to connect sentences.

Specific Objectives : Students should able to: (i) Form at least 5 out of 8 sentences using the correct prepositions. (ii) Brainstorm at least 3 out of 4 ideas regarding the effects of pollution towards the environment using their previous knowledge.
