Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fund raiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner. Programs: Microsoft Word Date: Jan. 31, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: create an Event Ad for a fund raiser using only Microsoft Word. Process: I scanned the Halo Forward unto Dawn Image, and then I used Word crop tool. And then I used a Word tool to sharpen the image to bring the Master Chef out, and blur out the background. Then I added boxes for a diagonal look to it. and some rectangles from the armor to add repetition and organization. I chose one fount to look somewhat futuristic. Microsoft

Description: A photo montage involving the blending of two or more images with text. Programs: Adobe PhotoShop. Date: Feb 14, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: Use Photoshop and create a montage of pictures with using masking tool. Process: I found a background image of the earth and cropped it to 11 X 8.5 then found a number of other images and went to Photoshop and using the quick selection tool I the images that I wanted and but them with my background. I put mask on each image and with the space station one I used 40% opacity, soft-edged brush. I repeated the process with all the images using opacity set to 100% to get rid of the hard edges. and then opacity set from 10% to 30% to blend them in with the background and other images. With the stars I used the paint bucket tool to fill the image black, then I used a gradient tool to bring them just to the top of the image.

Description: Letterhead for a company. Programs: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign. Date: Feb 28, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: To Create a letterhead for a company. Process: using elements from matching business cards I copied elements from the business card and using InDesign I placed and arranged and aligned them. I also added a water mark on the letter head with opacity set to 5%.

Description: Business cards for a company that I created. Programs: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign. Date: Feb 28, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: To create Business Cards for a company with a matching letterhead. Process: I started out creating a business card in Adobe Illustrator, for this I used the Rectangle tool, then using the pen tool I created everything else. Including the lettering for the back of the business card. For the mail, phone, and twitter logo I traced the logo using the pen tool. The using the ellipse tool for the circles around those logos.

Description: A brochure for a company. Programs: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign. Date: March 28, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: To learn how to create a brochure, and to learn how to lay out and place everything so it folds and looks right. Process: The first page being the outside of the brochure with four different sections, for the inside content and the back of the brochure. And then the next page was for the inside poster. I created both the picture in the graphic design part a few weeks back. for the SCAVJ studios logo I simply made a triangle and changed the stroke to something different. And I got a picture of a raven and using the pen tool I traced the picture to create the logo. I then placed all of those things into the brochure and using the alpha channel to text wrap around the green and blue bars.

Description: A web page with the process involved to create a logo. Programs: Text-wrangler Date: March 15, 2014 Course: Comm130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objective: To learn how to write and code CSS and html. Process: I created this web page using only Text-wrangler. After I marked up all my content and inserted my image, I attached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I then used the colors from my logo as the colors for the text, I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also changed my fonts to Times New Roman and Verdana. I found the background on the Internet and change this in CSS to reflect the chosen background. also using padding I lowered the text to fit in the middle of the screen. And added a box around the text with an Opacity set to 90%.

Description: Three different concepts for a logo. Programs: Adobe Illustrator. Date: Feb 21, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: Using Illustrator Create three different logos with different color schemes. Process: I had a ton of fun creating these logos. I use the pen tool to create most of the images that you see, I use the ellipse tool to create the circles in the middle of the logo, and the text tool to create the 13.17. that you see. after I created the text and found a font that I liked. Then I make the text and outline and transformed the text to my liking.

Description: A flier for graduating students to come and meet people for networking. Programs: Adobe InDesign Date: Jan 25, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objectives: To learn how to use InDesign and to learn how to aligned and arrange a flier. Process: I started out with sketches to get ideas for the design. I then used one of my sketches to start designing my flier in InDesign. I created black boxes for the words I wanted to pop out. And i used a Gradient feather tool on the black boxes. And Used the black boxes for repetition. I was given the text, logo, and pictures for this flier.

Description: A Flier to learn about different color schemes. Programs: Adobe Photoshop Date: Feb 7, 2014 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Cory Kerr Objective: To learn how to use a color scheme to take a picture that you want. And also to learn how to take different types of pictures. Process: I first formulated my plan by choosing a color scheme from the Visual FOCUS book for my layout. and the power point from the last project, I decided on the Tetradic. I brought the photo into Photoshop and used these specific editing techniques: levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. Then I design an 8.511 layout that including my photo, text, and repeating design elements. I incorporate my color scheme title, color swatches, and color names into my design.
