Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:
Use filters.

Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks. Apply appropriate typography.

Process:

First I cropped the background photo of the sky to 8.5X 11. I added a filter and made the sky black and white. I did a mask to help bring out natural brightness from the clouds. I added the photo of the girl with the balloons. I de saturated her a little bit, then used a mask to bring out the bright purple colors for pop. I then with 90% black paint softened the edges of the picture. Then used 14% black paint to help bring in the effect that she is floating in the clouds. To help blend her into the sky. I added in Typography with contrasting fonts

Objectives:

Learn basic photography skills. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Size and crop the image. Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels. Place in a design with a proper color scheme

Process:

I first began by choosing out my color scheme. Then I went and took a good quality photo with good composition, light, and focus. I took it on my Sony point-and-shoot camera. Then I took it and edited it in Photoshop. I used levels, vibrancy, color adjustment and a sharpening tool to edit my photo. I then placed the photo into a design. With a specific color scheme. I added a swatch of my design next to the authors name. I labeled each of them. It really added to the design of the poster. I added a little formatting to the typography and photo to add some depth. Which really allows the photo to stand out against the colors and flat design. Making the design how I envisioned it.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image. Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:

It was fun to use illustrator for this project. I drew the cupcakes with the pen tool. I used ellipses to make the circles. I chose different color schemes to help set each logo apart. First Logo I drew the cupcake with the pen tool. Then I chose contrasting typography to make the logo unique. The second one, I chose one kind of typography then I manipulated it with the direct select tool to make it unique. The last one I used the ellipse tool to make the circles of the top of the cupcake. Then I used the pen tool to make the bottom of the cupcake. I then created the circle as well. With the text path too I made the title wrap around the circle. I also chose two different font types to add contrast.

Objectives:

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

I designed this layout in Adobe InDesign. I started first by placing the logo into the design in the top left corner. Then I drew some circles with the ellipses tool. Allowing the eye to lead to the address and basic information for the Letterhead. Then I placed the water mark in the left bottom side. Then I added a row of lime circles to add repletion and change of color to add contrast. I used rulers to make sure that they were all perfectly aligned in the layout. I created the logo in Adobe illustrator. I drew the cupcake with the pen tool. I added a heavy stroke to make the color pop more. Then I chose two contrasting fonts for the companies name next to the cupcake. I also created my water mark by copying my cupcake into a new document and making it bigger. Then I brought the opacity of the cupcake down to 8% making it very subtle on the letterhead.

I started with putting the logo one side so that can have room to stand out. On the other side I put all the basic information. I added the circles once again to bring in the theme from the letterhead. I also used the repetition from those circles as well. I added a cupcake in the bottom corner of the business card to add more recognition to the company and the logo. All of the business card design was done in Adobe InDesign.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images. (Incorporate at least four quality images (Not including the logo). One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.) Write at least 250 words of original copy with at least three paragraphs. Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.

Process:

I choose the off-set layout for the brochure. I set up this layout in InDesign. I set up two page document setting up ruler markers at the folds in the layout. Then thinking with the first page being the outside and the second page being the inside. I chose images that were going to show and exemplify the message of adopt a pet. Then I clipped the image of the dog in Photoshop on the inside to help make it pop more off the page. I added a text wrap around the logo I used. I designed the logo and paw print designs in Adobe Illustrator.

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact.

Process:

I started by sketching some ideas. Then I took the sketch and used that as a guide in Adobe In-Design. I used rectangles and circles to provide repetition. I bolded one word in the title to create a focal point as well as provide contrast. I differed my fonts to do the same. I also provided sufficient white space to bring the whole design together. The image, body copy, and logo were provided by the company.

Event Ad

Microsoft Word Jpeg converter Epson Scanner

Objectives:

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together) Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process:

I scanned in an image of two cupcakes. I cropped one out and removed the background of the other and I stacked them on top of each other to had a good flow and nice effect. I used two shades of the same color to add contrast. I kept the body copy small to make the message clear and simple. I repeated the cupcakes and added gradient lines for repetition and rhythm. I found designing in word to be fairly easy and possible. The programs and tools I used were Microsoft word, Epson scanner, and pdf to jpeg converter.
