BUILD
Decouple technical installation from business innovation: Install SAP enhancement package combined with Support Pack Stack as a maintenance activity with only minor additional effort .
The roles mentioned on this slide refer to the SAP Standards for E2E Solution Operations.

Service Marketplace is the single point of access to all information that is related to each Business Function, such as documentation, releasenotes, dependencies and test case templates.
Installation Prerequisites:
SAP ERP 6.0 already installed Required SP stack level => see SAP Note 1052522 Refer to Master Guide of SAP enhancement package (focus on chapter 3!)

Technical usage: predefined, installable subsets of an SAP enhancement package for SAP ERP SAP Note 1052470 maps a technical usage to a given business function You enter the technical usage => SAP Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer automatically calculates the relevant download files
* This is an example of installed software components in SAP ECC. For Java components and BI-, PI- and Enterprise Portal content, a different installation procedure would be used.

SAINT Transaction
Activities Install the loaded upgrade packages that you find in the inbox of the transaction SAINT All software components can be installed in one step Result: Only the relevant software components are upgraded SPAU comparison for upgraded software components (if system contains any modifications) No additional regression test necessary besides the usual support stack regression test Benefits Stability of large system parts Reduced effort for SPAU comparison and regression test Faster implementation because no upgrade customizing is needed

Discover
Faster test preparation due to test case templates Smaller test scope because changes in objects are documented for each business function Smaller training effort due to limited and documented effect on user interfaces Shorter downtime than in full releaseupgrade
RKT learning maps provide efficient access on information relevant for a particular person in an SAP project Early transparency of potential Evaluate & Decide side effects that a new implementation can have
4
Activate & Configure
New coding becomes effective only where activated Faster implementation because only activated parts are configured BUILD No change in system behaviour before the activation (ECC) Switch transaction provides transparency of all system and UI changes that will take place Stability for all other parts of the solution
SAP AG 2007, Deployment of EhPs / Sept. 12th, 2007 / Doris Moellgaard / 32
