Description: These are three logo
variations for the same company.

Date: February 22, 2014 Course/Instructor:

Comm. 130 Section 04 Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator Objectives: Create three completely different, original logos. Process:
I thought that this project was a lot of fun to do. For the first logo I created outlines for the text so I was able to manipulate it and put the cat in the a then I used the shape tool for the box and the ellipse tool for the paw. For the second logo I used the ellipse tool for the paw and then used the reshape tool to get it to look exactly how I wanted it to. Then I changed the color of the text to get it to what I wanted. For the third one used the shape tool to create the head of the cat and for the body is where I used the pencil tool. I created outlines for the text so I was able to manipulate it how I wanted it as well.

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign Objectives: Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image, Apply typography rules keeping small copy.

Process:

For the letterhead I decided to put the logo at the top left hand side because when I tried to put it at the top right hand side the penguin was looking to off the page and it looked bad. I used the feet as my watermark because I thought it would be a cute idea and fit with my business card. I decided to make the PenQiun Products the color red at the bottom so it would stand out more. Then I opened the projects in Adobe InDesign to print them out and make them the right formats.

Description: This project is to blend two or more images together to

create a montage.

Date: February 15, 2014 Course/Instructor:

Comm. 130 Section 04 Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn to blend images together gradually, using masks. Process: For this project I found pictures of war and slavery, Martin
Luther King Jr., and an old paper texture. I first blended the picture of MLK with the war backround and then overlayed those two pictures with the old paper texture. I then masked MLK to the background and then mased the old paper texture with over the other two pictures. I then added the text I wanted and made final masking touches.

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Process: What I did in the project is I worked in InDesign and I set the
margins up right so it would be the brochure that I wanted. I made my logo in Illustrator and I added that into InDesign and I uploaded all of my sisters photos to InDesign as well. I used paragraph styles to create the unity of the whole project. I also aligned all the pictures on the side to go with my whole look.

only using Microsoft Word and a scanner.

Comm. 130 Section 04 Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word, Epson Professional Scanner, and

PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).

Objectives: Learn to use only Word design features without using any
Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process:

First I found the picture I was going to use for the project and then scanned it in. Then I deleted the background from the dogs in Microsoft Word and started to create the rest of the background. I made the dog food bowl with shapes in Microsoft Word and used a bevel effect to make it appear 3D. The wood floor was a texture I found in Word under the Fill tab and used the shadow effect for the dogs and the food bowl. I never knew I could create so much in Microsoft Word before.

Description: This is a promotional flier to promote a Graduate Leadership Conference.

Date: January 25, 2014 Course/Instructor:

Comm. 130 Section 04 Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesign Objectives: Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

Process:

For the first step I made some sketches, from there I picked the sketch that I liked most and then opened Adobe InDesign. I thought that I should make the title creative so I decided to add multiple shapes like the circles and squares. I tried to make Graduate stand out the most by placing the G in the dark circle and everything else in the gray square. I used repetition and rhythm with the circles and the lines. The picture, logo, and content of the flier was given to me, my assignment was the layout.

Program(s)/Tools: Text Wrangler and Adobe Photoshop. Objectives: Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and
content. (Use TextWrangler (Macintosh) or NotePad++ (Windows))

Process: I created this web page using Text Wrangler. This was my first

time writing my own HTML and using CSS and I quite liked it. I also used W3C CSS and HTML Validator to make sure they were written right. After linking my CSS to my HTML I then started to change the colors around on my page to match my logo. For instance at the top where it says Computer and Things Electronics is white lettering in a black box. I found these colors in Photoshop using the eyedropper tool. Then I found the textured background off of the internet and I put that as my background. Then I made the box that the body of my text is in and made it transparent or opaque to give me the look I wanted.

Description: This project was to demonstrate good photo taking skills

and also good photo editing skills in Photoshop with a good color scheme

Date: February 8, 2014 Course/Instructor:

Comm. 130 Section 04 Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop Objectives: Learn basic photography skills, Choose a color scheme,
take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout, Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.

Process:

First I took the picture of flowers with my Canon T3i camera. I then uploaded the picture into Adobe Photoshop where I brightened the picture up and adjusted the colors for them to appear more vibrant. Then I started my design layout by using different shapes and then the color dropper tool to make the shape the same color as the pink flowers. I incorporated the colors and the name of the color scheme that I used and made sure that those colors appeared throughout. After I was done with that I added a texture of leaf petals to the bottom to bring more bling to my project.
