Process:

To make this Brochure I started by sketching out a layout. Sketching what I wanted to do once I landed on doing a Brochure about Cars. I wanted to do something that would be bold and sleek like BMW cars are. That is when I started to design the shape map. This was all done without the computer. I created the curves of the brochure by first measuring how I wanted my brochure to come out and placed rulers on them so I could measure accurately. Then I used the pen tool to conform the curves to my dimensions. I outlined and aligned the elements which turned out to be a lot different then my original sketch due to spacing issues. Finally I put text in and then had it wrap around the car at the bottom. This was to help with the design fluidity. To do this I selected text wrap when clicked on the object and had the text wrap around the car with .25 in gutters and alpha channel selected. This created the text wrap I was looking for. That is how I created the Dove Brochure, Luxury Car of the Future.

Objectives:

Use Illustrator to create a logo and business card. Design a consistant layout with my Letterhead. Try to keep things simple

Process:

To create the business card I wanted to create a watch design that was appealing to those with luxurious taste. Its a high end watch company. To start I choose the color scheme and then designed the pattern. Next I had to create teh pattern in Illustrator to go inside the watch. I had to use the shape tool and repeat it and then use it as a repeating layer inside the watch shape. I put a layer on top to create a light effect.

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

Brought in the logo from InDesign into Illustrator. Then I brought the watch watermark to keep it simple and add unity to the Business Card I created. Next I brought in the lines to add uniformity to the desing within itself.

Photo Design
Description:
A flier designed to demonstrate my photo and design skills by using a photo I took and designing a flier based off of the photo. Added the color scheme into the design to showcase that I can work within a color scheme when designing my flier.

Objectives:

Learn basic photography skills. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Size and crop the image. Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels. Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image. Desaturate the selected portion of the image. Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process:

Set up a photo shoot. Applied the rule of thirds and focus as I took the shot. Then took it into photoshop. I added layers in photoshop that helped with the hue and saturation. Color corrected the photo to match within my color scheme. After I designed a flier in photoshop. Used the rectangle tool combined with the opacity tool to create overlays of my design. Kept to the rule of thirds to make appealing.

Objectives:

Learn to use Microsoft word to design a flier. Learn to scan high quality photos into the computer and then edit around them. Create full bleed-design

Process:

Used the scanner to send a high resolution image to my computer. Sized the image right so as not to distort the proportions. Microsoft Word was used in presentation mode to utilize its design aspects. A combination of shapes tools and color fill options were combined to make the basic layout. The font choices were carefully selected so as to follow design principle rules. No more than two fonts.

Objectives:

Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant message Learn to blend images together gradually, using masks. (Two or more images) Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements. Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image

Process:

Found photos to fit my sketch designs for snowboarding and passion combined. Imported the photos into photoshop. Set mountain photo as background and brought in the snowboarder, and Shaun white and the flag. Used a mask to blend the snowboarder in. Had a paint brush with a feather to help mix the pixels so they blended together. With the flag I did the same. Added a mask to mask out the rest of the image and then I changed the opacity so that it was a nice overlay background to the montage.

Objectives:

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use your previous designs. Use only the tools to create and draw your logos. Gather opinions from at least ten outside sources about which logo appeals most to them.

Process:

To create my logos I first sketched out some designs to brainstorm what I was trying to create. Then I used Illustrator to create the designs. The city W was designed to incorporate a city lawyer look. I used the rectangle tool to create the rectangles. I used the free transform tool to adjust the buildings. I used a circle for the middle building. To draw the shadows I used the free transform and pen tool to create the shapes. For the second logo I used text overlaying a rectangle.

Objectives:

Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page. Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Design a web page using HTML to display a logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and basic understanding of CSS. Identify hex colors for web design. Compress multiple files in a zipped folder to attach as one file.

Process:

Used photoshop to resize the image of the logo to the specified dimensions of 300X500. Then used text wrangler to edit HTML info as I inserted the image into the website. I created paragraphs and a list and color scheme using the HTML and CSS text editors. CSS accounts for the look of the image. I used it to match the color scheme of my website of the Sapphire watch design .

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact.

Process:

Sketched a diagram of the flier in pencil to get a basic design idea going.These ideas were put into Adobe Indesign. Focused on a simple design that would be appealing to the eye. This was accomplished by providing plenty of whitespace and then using different shades of grey to contrast and guide the eye. The tools were meant to emphasize the message.
