The Goal The course is extended over 2 semesters and designed to provide the final year dental students with the advanced knowledge in various disciplines of restorative dentistry including conservative dentistry, endodontics and fixed prosthodontics. The students must also fulfil advanced clinical requirements in all disciplines over the academic year. In addition to managing and treatment planning different clinical cases.

Course Objectives The course aims at providing dental students with solid knowledge in the following: 1. Making clinical decisions in terms of diagnosis and setting-up of appropriate treatment plans. 2. Causes and management of dentine hypersensitivity. 3. Management of difficult cases in endodontics and gaining advanced knowledge in updated endodontic treatment modalities. 4. Aesthetic rehabilitation of discoloured teeth.. 5. Tooth wear and its management. 6. Various options in all-ceramic restorations and adhesive dentistry. 7. Causes and management of failed restorations.

Learning outcomes: Upon the completion of this course the students should: Related objective The expected achieved outcome 1.1 Select appropriate case for fixed prosthodontic and determine the most appropriate treatment option. Deliver optimum care for the patient 1.2 Be aware of different post systems available and the advantages and disadvantages of them 2.1 Identify causes of dentine hypersensitivity and manage it 3.1 Determine what constitute failure in endodontics and how to manage it 3.2 Be aware of current techniques and instruments in endodontics. And determine whats appropriate for an individual case 3.3 Recognize cracked teeth and diagnose vertical root fractures 3.4 Diagnose different types of root resorption and manage them. 4.1 Identify causes of tooth discoloration, and how and when to manage them by bleaching and or restorations 5.1 Diagnose different types of tooth wear and determine whats the best restorative option 6.1 Be aware of various options in all ceramic restorations 6.2 Be aware of indirect onlays and inlays restorations 7.1 Identify failure and its causes in both direct and indirect restorations 7.2 Manage failed restorations

Teaching and Learning methods Class lectures, handouts and presentations are designed to achieve the course objectives Clinical scenarios supported by radiographs and pictures will be presented in the lectures, which will provide students with examples on how to treatment plan and manage different cases The students are responsible of the material covered during the course Any difficulty or concern during the course should be passed to the course coordinator
