1he Australian Federal Covernment has required carbon polluting electricity generators and heavy
industries to surrender a set number of Penewable Energy Certificates (PECs) every quarter. 1hese
'liable entities' may either purchase PECs from 3rd parties or install their own renewable power
generationfacilities to createthem themselves.
1his has created an emerging market for Commercial Solar Systems (10kW to 100kW) of grid
connected photovoltaic (PV) systems installed on the roofs of various commercial establishments
likewarehouses, officebuildings, shoppingcentres and, local council buildings.
A commercial establishment based in Smithfield, New South
Wales decided solar power could be an efficient way to
supplement their power requirements while helping trim their
operational costs.
But they needed a partner to help them execute the plan.
Pegen Power's manager for global sales, Mr. Pa| Hira initiated
the pro|ect. 1he scope of this pro|ect included tariff
negotiations, arrangingfinancial options if requiredinaddition
to conductingafeasibility study, designing, supplying, installingandcommissioningthesolar system.
Pegen Power proposed a customised design with 400 x 2S0Watt solar panels situated across
approximately 1000 sq.m of roof space. ln addition to these solar panels 6 x SMA 1ripower 170001L
Cermanmadelnverters combinedwith ComAp's Mains Promains protectionunit andSolalog remote
monitoringsystem wereusedinthesystem.
1he Smithfield100 KWinstallationis estimatedto generate around1S7000kWh per annum basedon
historical climate data. Pegen Power is able to provide an up-front discount in the form of S1Cs on
solar PVinstallations andsolar farms upto 100kWinsize. Much of theupfront cost of theinstallation
will be recouped in about 2 years taking into account of new electricity tariff agreement that Pegen
negotiatedonbehalf of theclient anddepreciationof 30%of thesystem valueinthefirst year.
Pegen made sure that the pro|ect strictly followed the Energy Nework Associaion (ENA) of Australia
guidelines for the connection of Embedded Ceneration within distribution networks. 1he MainsPro
protection system installed in this pro|ect provides ad|ustable voltage, frequency and loss of mains
(islanding) protections.

Hanwha SolarOne is a global top class renewable energy company listed on NASDAQ (HSOL). lt was
newly bornas HanwhaSolarOneafter HanwhaCrouptookover SolarfunPower Holdings in2010.
Pegen Power has previously installed hundreds of residential solar power systems using
Hanwha/Solarfun solar panels. 1he modules are supported by a 2S-year warranty and are certified by
1UV, CE, UL, andCEC worldwide certifications, alongwith meetingall AustralianandEuropeanquality
andsafety standards. Performancewarranties onmodules availableinAustraliathrough PegenPower
carry a 97% nominal power generation capacity (poly crystalline based PV modules) with an annual
output degradationof no morethan0.7%.
ln order to capture the most solar energy, the solar panels should be oriented to north at around 30
degrees off the rooftop surface. However, considering the wind loading and strength of the roof, the
panels in this pro|ect were oriented directly facing up. Pegen used Australian approved Clenergy PV-
ezPackSolar Poof universal roof mountingsystem inthis pro|ect.

Pegen also installedstateof theart Solarlog-MonitoringSystem inthis pro|ect.
1hemonitoringsystem canprocess andanalyseplant datawith thehelpof theSolar-Log"datalogger.
1his can be done either in graphic or numerical format in the form of daily, monthly and annual data
reports. ln addition to the yield line and input voltage, individual strings and inverters or
environmental data associated with plant monitoring can be presented with the help of the Sensor
Boxas well as other referencevalues.
Our monitoring system supports the "Full Service" maintenance concept through online access to the
plant. 1he monitoringsystem not only measures andcompares the yielddata of the individual strings,
but also theperformancedataof theindividual inverters. Pegencanenter into amaintenancecontract
with the plant owner - we offer the customer complete package with monitoring, maintenance and
servicingof thesolar power plant.
