APPLICATION HOW MUCH WATER SHOULD YOU DRINK ?

? If you would like to calculate your body weight and daily fluid requirements using the metric system, please use this formula.

For the first 10kg (kilogram) of body weight the daily fluid intake required is 100cc (or mL) per kg. For the next 10kg of body weight, the fluid required is an additional 50 cc/kg. For every additional kg of body weight, an additional 10cc/kg is required

This is the basic body requirement. More fluid would be needed to replace excess sweating from exercise or fever, fluid loss from vomiting, and diarrhea or increased urine production
DEHYDRATION FIRST AID have the person lie down and elevate his/her feet apply cold compresses use a fan to lower temperature give fluids.

PREVENIRE DE COMPLETAT CU ELEVII SPANIOLI, CA APLICAIE Evitai ieirile i practicarea sportului n zilele caniculare . Purtai haine deschise la culoare,

lejere n timpul ieirilor n zielele

toride.

Evitai consumul de alcool, n special n zilele caniculare deoarece crete pierderea de apduring heat waves, check on the elderly in their homes; Familiarizarea cu semnele i simptomele deshidratrii.

OUR BODY OF WATER Water represents 75% of the body weight. Most of it is found within the cells (intracellular space). The rest is found in the extracellular space, wich consists of the blood vessels (intravascular fluid) and the spaces between cells (interstitial space). HOW DO WE LOSE WATER ? We lose water routinely when we: - breathe, and humidified air leaves the body; - sweat to cool the body; - eliminate waste by urinating. PREVENTION - avoid outdoor exposure and exercise when temperatures are high; -wear light-colored and loose-

fitting clothing if you must be

DEHYDRATION Occurs when the water intakes is less than water loss.

outdoor when it is hot outside; -find air-conditioned or shady areas and allow yourself to cool between heat exposures; -plan outside events during times of the day when temperatures are lower; - take extra water to all outdoor

WHAT CAUSES DEHYDRATION? - High temperature - Diarrhea - Diabetes - Vomiting - Burns - Sweat - Inability to drink - Sport fluids

FIRST AID
-have the person lie down and elevate his/her feet; -apply cold compresses; -use a fan to lower temperature; -give fluids.

events that will increase water loss;

SYMPTOMS range from mild to life-threatening

- a loss of 2% of body fluids generates - dry mouth, hot and dry skin, weakness and fatigue, dark urine, dizziness; - more than 5% fluid loss: increased heart rate, stop sweting, decreased urine output, high body temperature, extreme fatigue, muscle cramps, nausia ; - over 10% fluis lost: vomiting, weak pulse, kidney failure, confusion, delirium, coma and death.

-avoid alcohol consumption,

especially when is very hot, because it increases fluid loss; -during heat waves, check on the elderly in their homes; -know dehydratation sign and symptoms.
