ROCKING HEART RANCH COLT STARTING CHALLENGE

Dear 4-H Horse Leaders, Let us help you continue the path of getting youth Back in the Saddle. Rocking Heart Ranch is committed to getting youth Back in the Saddle and we appreciate all of your efforts to ensure this goal by volunteering your time as a 4-H leader. In an effort to do our part in this initiative, we are inviting fifty 4-H Equine members to our Colt Starting Challenge on August 16th in Taber, Alberta at the Agriplex. The RHR Colt Starting Challenge 2.0 will profile 10 up and coming horse trainers that were chosen from across Western Canada. They will be given up to 60 days with one of our 2 year old horses and will compete on August 16th, 2014 in Taber for a grand prize of $5,000. The winner will be chosen by a panel of industry expert judges. Competitors will be judged on various facets including basic skills and showmanship. In an effort to promote Back in the Saddle, we would also like to include the 4-H members in this judging contest. 4-H members will be given the same judging sheet as the panel of our judges and they can then compare their results to those of the panel when the winner is announced. This will provide members of your 4-H club an opportunity to interact with the horse industry and take an active role in the judging of the challenge. As an additional bonus, all 4-H members that take part in the judging challenge and submit a score sheet will be entered into a draw for one of our very own long yearling Colts. There will also be additional prizes including a 15horse saddle and some tack. We are also looking for some leaders to attend to help with organizing the 4-H members as the parents/guardians or 4-H club leaders are responsible for their members. For your members to participate, we ask that you have them fill out the attached registration form, waiver, and photo release, then email it to rockingheartranch@gmail.com no later than July 20, 2014. Please note that the first 50 4-H members to submit their completed form including waiver will be accepted. This is on a first come first serve basis . Once we have received the completed registration form and signed waiver, we will email a confirmation out to the 4-H member participating by July 31, 2014. They can they show up at 8:30am on August 16h and check in at the 4-H table where they will be given their score sheet and a coupon for a free lunch. We are limiting the number of 4-H participants to the first 50 members entered. The challenge will start at 10am and will wrap up around 4pm and the 4-H prizes will be drawn at that point. Please note that members must be in attendance to win the prizes. If your 4-H members wish to stick around a little longer, a horse sale involving the horses in the competition will follow. Please note that all 4-H members must register in person at the 4-H registration desk in the lobby by 8:30am. Upon registration, each 4-H member will be given their judging sheet and coupon for a complimentary lunch sponsored by Rocking Heart Ranch. They will then be seated behind the judges in the arena to begin the judging. Upon completion of the RHR Colt Starting Challenge, 4-H members may turn their score sheets in to the registration desk. After they have submitted their judging sheets, they will be given an entry into a special draw for the 4-H members. Prizes include: 1 Long Yearling Colt from Rocking Heart Ranch A 15saddle Various Tack items.
