The following pattern is my original design. Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use. This pattern has not been tested so please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS: Hook: Size C Yarn: Jamie Baby Yarn for the Flower & 4 ply worsted weight yarn for the leaves. Stitches used: ch, sc, hdc, dc, fpdc, bpdc. MC = Main Color (Peach Jamie Brand) CC = Contrasting Color (Green Red Heart) Yarn Needle Pliers One 6"-8" piece of 18 gauge floral wire. Optional: Floral Tape Difficulty: MEDIUM

FLOWER RND 1: With MC, ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hk. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 4. Do Not Turn. RND 2: Sl st around post of beg ch 4 of previous round. Ch 3, bpdc around same st. *Fpdc around next dc, bpdc around same dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 3. RND 3: * Ch 6, sc in 6th ch from hk. Sc in next st. Rep from * around. FASTEN OFF. Using a yarn needle, weave a strand of MC through round 2 and draw it tight to form the flower. LEAVES With CC, * Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hk, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st in last ch. Rep from * 3 times more. (4 leaves) Join with sl st in base of 1st leaf. FASTEN OFF -- Leaving about a 4" tails. Use Yarn tails on leaves to fasten the leaves to the base of the flower. STEM Insert wire through center of flower. Using pliers, curl the end of the wire over at the top end of the flower so you can only pull it back into the middle of the flower (not all the way out) just so the curled part doesn't show. Using CC, pull yarn tail - 6"-8" through center of leaves toward base of flower. Now hold that strand parallel (between two leaves) with the wire and twirl the stem so the yarn covers it entirely. Secure the end with tape or glue. ALTERNATIVE: use floral wire for the previous step or buy the stems that are vinyl coated. NOTE: Make several flowers in different colors for a festive bouquet! Just tie them together with a coordinating ribbon.

Makeover!

I've decided to purchase a new banner for my etsy shop! I bought it from a very talented grapic artist who sells her art and services through there. Pop on over and check out my new banner, and if you like it then

you have to check out her store. It's http://paperbirdie.etsy.com. She's very nice and knew what I wanted right away. I've also decided to buy a cupcake graphic on its own so I can use it for some cards I'm making to sell hairpins, barettes, and buttons in my shop. In other words, I've got a lot of new things to list very soon. And just for fun, I made the cute little flower on the fly with some leftover yarn that was too small for anything else. So here's my pattern, original and fairly simple: Remenent of worsted-weight handspun style yarn Siza US I9 crochet hook Thread Button Felt that matches button Metal barette or pinback 1. Begin with an adjustable ring. Crochet 10 single crochet (sc) into the ring, tighten, and join with a slip stitch (slst). (10 sc) 2. Work 2 sc in each sc around, join with a slst. (20 sc) 3. Now for the petals: *chain (ch) 1, skip one sc and crochet 5 double crochet (dc) into next sc. Ch 1, skip 1, and slst into the next sc*. Repeat from * around. (Should end up with 5 petals.) 4. Cut free and weave ends to the back of the flower's center, but leave them dangling. 5. Again, form an adjustable loop and crochet 5 sc into the ring. (5 sc) 6. Work 2 sc in each sc around. (10 sc) 7. Do the same thing as in step 3, but you should only end up with 3 petals. 8. Repeat step 4, then thread the smaller flower's dangling yarn through the center of the large one and tie the ends together. This will help them to stay in place while you sew on the button and give the finished flower extra strength. 9. Stitch a button in the center of the flower, a circle of felt on the back, and add a pinback or barette. Done!

Versatile Flower pattern

So....here is the pattern I promised! I've done it with super bulky weight yarn, and worsted weight. Works great for both! Here I will show the pattern done with ww... Versatile Flower very small amounts of worsted weight yarn H hook optional button R 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to make a circle R 2: Ch 1, 10 sc in the circle, sl st in first sc to close the circle (10 sc) R 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in ea sc, sl st in first sc to close the circle (20 sc)

...At this point, you can change yarn colors, or keep the same yarn... This part is a little tricky, and you may need to finagle your stitches a bit.

R 4: Sl st in the BLO of the next st loosely (because you are going to end up joining the petal here at the end of this round), *skip the next st, 7 dc in the back loop of the next st. Skip the next st, sl st in the BLO of the next st*, all the way to the end. You should end up with 5 petals of 7 dcs each, all in the BLO. Join with a sl st to the first sl st...or wherever it looks right. :)

R 5: Sl st into the FLO right below where you joined the back row. Now follow the directions for the back row of petals, but use 5 dcs in the petals, and make all your stitches in the FLO. Join to first sl st. Pass hook through to the back of the flower. YO, draw up loop, clip yarn, and fasten off.

Now, if you feel like it, add a little pizazz with a button or something.

I hope this is fairly easy to understand. It may look difficult, but I think once you try it, you will like it! Just remember it is essentially 5 petals of 7 dcs in the back loops, and 5 petals of 5 dcs in the front loops (a bit off-set though to add dimension). Oh, and here is a picture of the flower in super bulky yarn:
