Importantly, the products we design and build ourselves provide the most attractive and accessible return on investment for your client and therefore provide you with the greatest profit potential. They are by far the easiest to supply and install and most definitely the ones we suggest you focus your efforts on especially in the early days. By contrast the contract range includes industrial high voltage applications and sophisticated control equipment, which requires a much higher level of expertise, both in commercial and technical terms. Paradigm Shift
Enigin PLC now designs and manufactures its own energy saving products with only few exceptions. This has not always been the case. Our original business model centred on sourcing white label products from reputable suppliers on the open market, and by agreement, rebranding these under the Enigin marks. This occasionally led to disappointments, complications and negative feedback amongst some of our early distributors. It also created significant problems for Enigin as we did not have complete control of the pricing policy in the global marketplace. Following a two-year programme of massive R&D investment; May 2013 saw the focus of the company shift to manufacturing and marketing its own exclusive products protected by trademarks, patents and copyright design applications. This dramatic paradigm shift has given us much better quality products and a more competitive pricing policy. We hope this change will attract the best quality partners from the countries into which we are seeking to expand.

Of course, there is no maximum amount you can choose to invest in your new business and no limit to how much business you can generate but we do have three minimum entry levels to facilitate your entry into the business, each with a differing level of discount structure. With each agreement you are given a specific discount off our Manufacturers Recommended Selling Price (MRSP) namely; 30%, 50% or 60-80%* respectively. The products specified in the distributor agreement are those from our commercial range of solutions that are designed and manufactured by Enigin PLC, and do not therefore apply to contract products like industrial motor controllers, proprietary LED lighting and ancillary electric components that we source in bulk from third parties and supply at your convenience. There are no restrictions on the prices you sell products for, as the MRSP is just a guide. Some distributors choose to sell products for well in excess of our MRSP. We recommend installation costs are charged as an extra. The MRSP is calculated so as to be able to offer the end user (your customers) a payback, or return on their capital investment, within two years (i.e. 50% ROI). This will of course vary based on local electricity charges. If they spend 10,000 with you, they should be saving 5000 every year thereafter (see Profit Potential on page 16). Your Enigin account will be credited as soon as you make the initial purchase. You can then request any combination of products to be delivered immediately or draw them down at your convenience to meet specific orders. We carry supplies of most product lines to minimise lead times wherever possible, and goods are normally dispatched from our warehouse the same day. The three options are explained in more detail in the Distributor Agreement.
* 80% discount is only available on large volume orders.

As a Distributor of Enigin products, you will automatically qualify for an Accredited Membership of the Energy Saving Association. This is a new organization, which has primarily been created to give Distributors of energy saving technology an immediate sense of credibility and belonging. ESA members get full rights to promote their business under the ESA Mark of Approval. In fact, many of the additional marketing materials and resources, which are made available to our distributors via ECOS, can be pre-branded with the ESA logo. Of course, ESA membership is much more than just a logo. Crucially, it is an indication to your customers that you are a trained specialist in the field of Energy Management backed by a global network of business professionals, engineers and product developers with an incredibly diverse and extensive understanding of energy conservation strategies. The ESA is headed by a group of Council Members that have demonstrated conspicuous success in the Energy Saving Business over a sustained period of time. Most products can be purchased online via ECOS, the Enigin Customer Ordering System. They are dispatched via carrier from our own warehouse facilities normally the same day. If you were to provide a total solution to a client looking to maximise on the savings opportunity it would likely involve an Eniscope, along with a selection of load-side energy saving products from our range of iMEC, ACES, LESS and CUES. In a fast food restaurant, hotel or convenience store for example, we might install Eniscope and propose controlling all their refrigeration, air conditioning and ancillary motors, in addition to replacing any inadequate lighting. Remember because we install Eniscope as part of the solution the savings are easy to isolate and thereafter prove. The goal would be to provide a complete solution that if at all possible delivers a two-year payback. Assuming you sold at our MRSP (remember many sell for more) then your profit on the installation of all products from Enigins commercial range would be either:

The size of orders obviously varies; some are just a few thousand pounds, and some considerably more. To date the largest retail order received by one distributor for one site was over 300,000. In a typical scenario; a customer with say a 30,000 per annum energy bill (thats a 60,000 spend over 2 years) with a projected saving of 30% across the site would have 18,000 readily available to spend on energy saving products and still be able to enjoy a two year pay-back. In some instances a customer with a large facility or several sites may choose to embark on a full-scale rollout programme involving hundreds, possibly thousands of individual products across their facilities. In other words these are not one-off sales, rather your goal is to develop a long-term relationship with your clients as you continue to provide them with cost effective solutions across numerous and varied applications via our constantly expanding range of innovative products.

Pay-As-You-Save
Eco Energy, Distributors in the USA, use the Pay-As-You-Save model. They offer thier clients the full EnergyMaps service and target a reduction in energy costs of at least 20%. They also promises a 2-year payback or ROI (return on investment).

ECO Energys CEO and Vice President believe the Pay-As-YouSave model is good for customers and distributors.
Eco Energy have secured a contract leasing arrangement, which allows them to offer their customers a total energy saving solution for a very affordable monthly payment. This typically results in a quicker decision because the purchase is made from the cash-flow budget instead of the annual budget. The customers monthly savings will usually be equal to or greater than the monthly costs (hence the term pay-as-you-save) so Eco Energy are not only able to remove the up-front capital investment but they can often deliver positive cash flow to their clients from day one. Whats more, the leasing company pays Eco Energy in full as soon as the equipment is installed. At the end of the leasing period, the equipment (and all of the savings) belong to the customer.

Managed Service
Energreen, Distributors in Europe, offer their customers an energy management consultancy service, which they deliver primarily with the aid of Eniscope - our Real-time Energy Management System. Energreen use Eniscopes remote energy monitoring capabilities to perform daily checks on their clients across the country, feeding specific suggestions through to individual sites for implementation. They also carry out regular, routine inspections and audits across multiple sites, identifying further opportunities for savings as part of an ongoing, progressive approach to managing energy. One of their customers is Kotsovolos, Greeces leading electrical retailer. Eniscope is installed in over 80 of their stores and for the last three years Energreen has delivered savings of up to 30% by means of ongoing consultancy to the stores management teams. Ongoing Success

Energreen target retail chains because once you have established a successful energy saving formula for one site its easy to replicate across all sites in that chain or similar chains. In addition to installations with the likes of Sony and DHL, their success with Kotsovolos has resulted in capturing a contract for a similar chain, Public, that sells consumer electronics. More recently Energreen secured a deal with the largest supermarket chain in the country that operates over 450 stores. While 100 a month might not sound like a lot, across 450 stores it would generate over 500K per annum and 2.5Million over the life of a 5-year consultancy contract.

Shared Savings
Empyreal, Distributors in Australasia, employ a shared savings model. They offer their customers the full EnergyMaps solution at no cost on the basis that they will share whatever savings are achieved on a 50/50 basis over five years. One of Empyreals most experienced salespeople commented that they have never found it this easy to make a sale. Its not hard to see why because this approach effectively eliminates all of the risk for the customer. Whenever two parties are sharing an end result, they work together for the best outcome... Its more of a partnership than a transaction. An indispensible component of this approach is Eniscope. Empyreal installs Eniscope before any energy saving measures are introduced in order to establish a baseline of energy use. Following the implementation of EnergyMaps, Eniscope will reveal, with pinpoint accuracy, the true savings realized against that baseline. The client has full access to the Eniscope data, which is easy to understand, and that means the process is totally transparent and the savings are verifiable on an ongoing basis. Once the savings are proven and agreed, the client will forward Empyreals 50% share on a monthly basis. However, like Eco Energy mentioned earlier, Empyreal use a financial partner to fund the installation. This means the client effectively pays the leasing company on a monthly basis while Empyreal gets 5 years worth of savings in advance. Although the Distributor takes on a bit more risk with the Shared Savings model, in the like for like scenarios illustrated it generated 20% more profit than the Pay-As-You-Save approach. It also eliminates the need for time consuming trials because you no longer need to prove savings in advance, you just share whatever is achieved. The distributors risk is mitigated by targeting vertical sectors where it is easier to predict savings potential. Empyreal completed their first 100 installations faster than any Distributor we have ever worked with which is testimony to the effectiveness of this method.
Large Rollouts
IQ Energy, Distributors in Scandinavia, target large contracts. They are currently trialing over 100 CUES (Chilled Unit Energy Saver) with one of the largest supermarket groups in Northern Europe. They operate 100s of stores and have over 18,000 applications for the products. This type of deal usually involves a single product, instead of a total solution, and a Distributor will typically accept the need for a reduction on the MRSP because of the numbers involved. I sold over 4000 iMECs to a chain of convenience stores. The rollout programme took nearly a year but I received a substantial payment every month throughout the period. As you can see, we do offer an 80% discount to Channel Partners on large orders, which is designed to help our partners secure this type of business. However, its worth noting that such deals require extraordinary patience and tenacity. Large companies require extensive trials before making a significant investment and will exhaust all possible alternatives before giving you their money. You could be working on a deal for well over 12 months before it comes in of course when it does, its most definitely worth the wait.

Exclusivity
Although our standard contracts are non-exclusive we are open to working on an exclusive basis in some countries with appropriately resourced candidates. The requirements for an exclusive partnership will vary from territory to territory but will almost always be based on achieving a mutually acceptable volume of product sales within a specified time period. In some cases, it may be possible to reserve an exclusive territory in advance of meeting product sales obligations. For full details on the requirements relevant to your area, please speak with your Business Manager at Enigin.
If you are not already in the energy efficiency sector you may, in the fulness of time, wish to source additional energy saving solutions to compliment the Enigin range of approved products. Your agreement allows you do this without recourse providing you are meeting the minimum contractual sales requirement. However, although we have an adaptable territory policy where our products are concerned, we also apply a coordinated approach to so as to avoid a situation where more than one distributor is approaching the same potential client. In this regard we will endeavour to ensure there is no conflict of interest with other distributors. However, there are certain logistical and legal implications affecting restrictive covenants in some countries wherein it may not only be impractical but we may not even be allowed to restrict every persons scope of operation. Our primary objective will always remain the same... we do not wish to have more than one distributor for Enigin products actively competing for the same client, and we will work loyally and systematically to achieve this result wherever possible. Importantly, we do not pro-actively market directly to the end user under any circumstances outside the UK. Thats why any sample products provided for evaluation cannot be resold. All enquiries for products and services that we ultimately receive as a result of any pro-active marketing efforts would be directed back to you. If you are seriously considering applying for the rights to distribute our products and solutions within a specific territory then it is advisable to check if there is still an opportunity in your area, as things change quickly. In the past we have had to return deposits and reject otherwise good applications simply because the opportunity has, in the meantime...GONE! So, genuine enquiries should be progressed without unnecessary delays.
