Join Us for Holy Week & Easter A Time of New Hope

Sunday, April 13 Palm Sunday Service at 10:00 a.m. The service commemorating and celebrating Christs triumphal entry into Jerusalem the week before his crucifixion. Our children lead us in the Procession of the Palms, as the Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him with waving palm branches, and by covering his path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross. Friday, April 18 Good Friday Service of Tenebrae (Darkness) Good Friday at sundown (7:30) we observe our annual Service of Tenebrae, the first act in the Easter story. During this service, we remember Christs last hours on Earth and his passion upon the cross. The sanctuary lights are lowered as the story of Jesus death is told. Communion will be observed, and the congregation departs the service silently and in darkness. Join us Friday evening you will have a greater appreciation for Sunday morning. Saturday, April 19 Community Egg Hunt at Noon. We will have egg hunts for 2 age groups, ages 1-5 and 6-11. There will be lots of candy, prizes, inflatable bounce house and $$$ eggs. FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS

FROM PASTOR BURROW

Welcome to the residents on two mail routes: Rt. 4 --- 587 Covers all of Coles Ferry from Cairo Bend to near Town (1000 something) extending from Cairo Bend to the river to the north and hwy 70 to the south Rt. 23 602 Covers from Cairo Bend to 109 and south to hwy 70 and north to the lake. Most of you already have a church, and we pray for the health of your church as well as ours. To those who are not currently attending and who have not found what you are looking for in a church, we extend the invitation to worship with us soon. We will try and make you feel right at home. We are located at 7845 Coles Ferry Pike, two miles NW of Friendship School, near the intersection with Cairo Bend Rd. and right across from the new LaGuardo Utility District Water Treatment Plant. Many of you no doubt pass by our church often. If so you may notice our outside sign whose messages we change often. New Hope Church is more than 200 years old. Before the building boom of new houses in this area we were considered a country church. The New Hope Community had a store, a school, and other signs of a rural community. The present sanctuary was built in 2006. The 4 acres of church grounds and all the buildings are debt free. We are a small church by todays standards. Average attendance is about 75 and the total

number who call it their church home is a little more than 100. The children and youth of the church number about 35, which is good for our size. We like to think that we have all the advantages of a small church while having programs better than average for our size. Our staff consists of a Lead Pastor, a part time professionally educated music director; a part time youth minister who is a seminary graduate from a Baptist Seminary majoring in youth ministries, and a part time volunteer church secretary. Ben Spicer, our music director, also serves as the head of Wilson County Help Center and teaches piano lessons by appointment in the church sanctuary (call 516-2655). SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY/AREA We consider ourselves a servant church. Our goal is to serve others. One way to do that is to be mindful of the people who live close to our meeting place and help enrich the quality of life among us. We want to do everything we can to help community. Our church is located in the middle of a triangle of three cities - Lebanon, Gallatin, and Mt. Juliet. Our campus is about equidistant from each of those cities. Those of us who reside here go in at least three different directions to city centers for community needs and opportunities. We dont think of our campus existing just for us. The campus and all its buildings belong to God. We are just the caretakers. I have a question. How can they be used more for community benefit? I am thinking it would be good to have a group of people (if you received this mailing you live in the area we speak of) to get together and brainstorm for ideas of how we can best use our campus for

the good of others around us, regardless of church affiliation. Maybe it is special programs like Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, or a child care center, or an older peoples day care, or selfhelp classes of one sort or another, etc. Or maybe we would have speakers who would give us helpful information for our community, like for instance someone from LaGuardo Utility District Water Treatment Plant across the street from us and serving many of us. Or, an area-wide evening for people to come together for computer classes to learn from each other about the use of Facebook and other sharing of that type. I would appreciate your calling, texting or emailing me your ideas and if you would volunteer to be a part of this kind of group. You may respond to me through e-mail vernonburrow@comcast.net, or phone 615-4066385, or texting via that number. We just want to be good stewards of this property and that means using it to full capacity to help others. ONE OTHER THING - PASTOR CARE I expect there are some very good people who dont have a church, and some that dont even want a church at this time, but may experience a crisis and need a pastor. You have my permission and are encouraged to call me at any time during the day or night. If I am in a meeting or with somebody else, leave your message and I will get back with you. That meeting will be to help you, not to get you to become a member of my church. NEW HOPE STUDENT MINISTRIES

kids and bring them to the church where we have a student ministry team ready to great them and feed everyone breakfast in our family center. After everyone eats we begin a rotation of three 20-minute classes where everyone learns in music class, activities class, and a Bible study. When everyone has completed the rotation we gather together in the sanctuary to sing with our adults. Next we gather with the student pastor in the front of the sanctuary as he has a visual story and prayer with the kids. After our prayer we go out of the sanctuary into childrens church. While in childrens church we sing worship music geared for children, break up into small groups, and then come back for a Bible lesson taught on video. One of the best parts of our student ministry at New Hope is all our teens work with the children along side the student pastor. The kids form a bond with our teens which has made our ministry strong and prepared our teens and children for a bright future in our community.
