As a Nursing major I look forward to a career in the medical field, specifically with pediatrics. I want to be able to shift my undergraduate work in the classroom to clinical hands on experience. Because of past experience in the medical field and with children, I believe I am well-qualified and prepared for a pediatric nursing position. Brigham Young University has prepared me well with the knowledge and skills I need to know to succeed in the field of nursing. I have enjoyed every class, professor, and opportunity to learn that has been presented to me. Not only has my experience in the classroom been positive, but my experience in a clinical setting as well. This past summer I had the opportunity to work as an assistant to Dr. Baer, an orthopedic surgeon for Orthopedic and Spine Center of the Rockies. He is a trauma and fracture specialist, with the majority of his patients requiring surgery from some sort of accident. Common procedures included internal fixation, or holding fragmented bones together with screws and plates, joint replacement, and soft tissue repair. I gained good communication skills and was able to apply my education to real life instances. I have also gained ample experience with children at Respite Care, a day care facility for disabled children. Not only was I able to better understand children, but also cater to their unique medical needs. This combination of children and illness parallels the experiences I will have in pediatric nursing. I hope I can contribute well to this position with the knowledge and skills I have gained. I look forward to the future and the possibility of working with your company. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you would like to contact me, or schedule an interview, feel free to contact me at XXX XXX XXXX or by email at XXXXXXXXXXXXX. I would love to answer any questions regarding my experience or discuss further how I can best fit your needs and requirements.

Sincerely,

Kaylee Packham
