During this time, let students know that we are going to begin our Olympic Unit that will transcend many of the core classes you have every day, such as; math, English, and history.

INSTRUCTION/DEMONSTRATION:
Introduce the idea of having 6 countries that are going to compete in our activities this week. We will be with the same teammates all week, so today we will meet our teammates and go through some team-building activities that will encourage cooperation through the competition. This idea is important because as you will learn this week, Olympic athletes must be highly skilled in the event, but they also must be mentally focused and show positive personal/social skills.

PolySpot Maze Using the iPad, create a maze and have ALL students participate together. The student at the front of the line will take a step and if they are correct, they keep going, if they mess up, they go to the end of the line and the next person tries. Continue that process until the students make it through the maze correctly. Blind Group Counting Have students circle up and close their eyes, the goal is to count up to 10, but only 1 person can say each number and the person to either side of the one who said the previous number CANNOT say the next number. 1 min.
