Competency 10
Core Competency: Engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Practice Behaviors:
10.1) Substantively and affectively prepare for action with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities;
Ex: I would read my charts/paperwork on my client and stay updated with organizations and things going on in the community.

Practice Behaviors:
10.2) Use empathy and other interpersonal skills; and Ex: I would be an effective listener and use motivational interviewing skills.

10.3) Develop a mutually agreed-on focus of work and desired outcomes Ex: Work with the client to establish goals and what the client desires to change.

10.4) collect, organize, and interpret client data; Ex: Keep the clients notes and progress up to date and stay updated on my client.

10.5) assess client strengths and limitations;

Ex: I will read my clients PCP and read over their strengths and limitations.

10.6) develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals and objectives; Ex: I will work with my client to develop goals.

Ex: I will use interventions that will help the client to meet their goals.

10.8) initiate actions to achieve organizational goals; Ex: I will research different interventions to achieve the goals.

10.9) implement prevention interventions that enhance client capacities; Ex: I would use interventions that would benefit my client.

10.10) help clients resolve problems;

Ex: I would help my clients the best say I knew how and abide by the NASW Code of Ethics.

10.11) negotiate, mediate, and advocate for clients; Ex: I will help my client to the best of their interest.

10.12) facilitate transitions and endings;

Ex: I will help my client transition through changes and if there services are fixing to end I will help prepare them for their services ending.

10.13) critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate interventions. Ex: I will monitor my client and see if the interventions are helping them to reach their goal and if not change the interventions.
