Time: Lesson Activities Engage I will have the room decorated with a bunch of cinco de mayo things all around the room. I will be wearing something that is close to what the people in Mexico would wear to celebrate their day of independence. Having these different things around the room will most likely bring different questions to the students. I will start with a background of why I am wearing such an outfit. After talking about cinco de mayo. I am going to explain that although we do not all celebrate this holiday there are other places in the world that celebrate this holiday. There are various different langauages that are around the world. I will then bring them to the library where the librarian will have different books about different cultures that the students will pick from.

Explore Once students pick out their book they will come back to the classroom in which they will read their book and analyze the different things that that certain culture has and we do not. They will put down the language they speak, holidays and traditions they celebrate. Explain Once they are done with reading their books, I will have some of the teachers throughout the school that are from different cultures. They will explain some of the different things that they do in their culture. They can be dressed in something they would wear, etc. Elaborate Once they have this information they will be making a foldable/booklet of themselves in this certain culture. They will put in their book something they might wear. Something they will celebrate in their culture. Evaluate Once done with their booklet at the end of the day, we will have a cultural celebration. I will have brought in different types of food for the students to try. Each student will then give a brief description of what their culture is and the different things that they do. Supervising Teachers Signature: Student Teachers Signature:
