1) Parallel Computing on GPU using CUDA Gone are the days, where for parallel computing you have

to rely on super computer. We can carry out high performance computing at our desk by GPGPU computation. General-purpose computing on graphics processing units (General-purpose graphics processing unit, GPGPU) is the utilization of a graphics processing unit (GPU) which typically handles computation only for computer graphics, to perform computation in applications traditionally handled by the (CPU). GPU computing is the use of a GPU (graphics processing unit) together with a CPU to accelerate general-purpose scientific and engineering applications. Pioneered five years ago by NVIDIA, GPU computing has quickly become an industry standard, enjoyed by millions of users worldwide and adopted by virtually all computing vendors. GPU computing offers unprecedented application performance by offloading compute-intensive portions of the application to the GPU, while the remainder of the code still runs on the CPU. From a user's perspective, applications simply run significantly faster. CUDA (formerly Compute Unified Device Architecture) is a parallel computing platform and programming model created by Nvidia and implemented by the graphics processing unit (GPUs) that they produce. CUDA is a programming interface to use the parallel architecture of Nvidia GPUs for general purpose computing. For developing a pool of HPC Professionals, to disseminate the knowledge of GPGPU computation and create GPU savv y in India, CUDA teaching centre is a Special NVIDIAdriven initiative for Technical Education quality improvement applicable for all Universities & Engineering Colleges in the country. The main objectives of this program are: i) To inculcate parallel programming skills in students by teaching CUDA/Open ACC environments using GPU technology and making them Industry-relevant ii) To encourage Professors & Researchers to carry out innovative R&D using GPUs and its available ecosystem

It is my pleasure to inform you that our institute is declared as a CUDA Teaching Centre programme( CTC programme) by Nvidia and our department have a CUDA teaching lab. Many inhouse PG projects are carried out using CUDA programming paradigm. For more details you can visit

Facilities provided will be 1) Full time dedicated HP workstation with Nvidias graphics card will be made available full time. 2) One group of 2/3 students will be offered Scholarship for inhouse project provided Nvidia assist institute with financial aid under CTC grant for coming financial year.( Waiting for Nvidia response) Pre- requisites Knowledge of Computer Architecture, Operating system ( Apart from technical skills, Pro-activeness, hardworking, sincerity is also required )

2) Digital right Management for multimedia data using biometric techniques

Advancement and proliferation of internet together with the availability of relatively inexpensive digital recording and storage devices have created an environment in which it has become very easy to obtain, replicate and disseminate digital content without loss in quality. This is radically changing the economics of intellectual property reproduction and distribution. There is a need to evolve the tools for Digital Right Management (DRM) that can help to protect the copyright ownership, guarantee the authenticity of data or can trace the illegal copy distribution A biometric is a persons unique physical or behavioral characteristics that can be used to identify the individual. The idea to be used biometric data for DRM is very new and is developed in the last few years as a result of the progress in biometrics. Biometric can be synergistically combined with conventional DRM techniques to enhance its credibility Such DRM technique can be applied for relational databases also. You carry out project for relational database.

3) Graph theoretic approach for pattern matching Work on pattern matching in graphs spans a diverse range of research communities within and beyond computer science. Relevant research and application areas include databases, computer vision, mathematical graph theory, artificial intelligence,

information retrieval, biology, electronics, computer aided design, and knowledge discovery and data mining. Even we can implement graph related problem using parallel computing for large graphs.
