A: List the major ideas, concepts or key points- point by po.

The sea is as important as the atmosphere in controlling the planets weather

Some of the most familiar weather systems occur at middle latitudes, although the driving forces behind this activity are oceans far away.

Connections between the ocean and the atmosphere can influence, and often dominate, changes in the weather and longer term climate everywhere.

Hurricane Elena swirls over the gulf of Mexico in august 1985, collecting energy from the warm sea below it.

HURRICANES, CYCLONES AND TYPHOONS form during late summer in and around the tropics.

The ocean and the atmosphere work together like a planetary thermostat, sharing nearly equally the task of exporting hear from equatorial regions toward the poles.

The tropical oceans also pass large amounts of here to the atmosphere. Rotation of the earth deflects air masses into ribbons of air that spiral around the globe, westward in polar and equatorial regions and eastward in the multitudes.

The ocean also generates intense storms at lower latitudes, in or around certain tropical regions.

Despite the different names and locations, the mechanics of all these immense circular storms are much the same.

Hurricanes from only in places where the ocean surface temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius, which is why they usually for in late summer, when the ocean surface is the warmest.

Air moves inward from all directions toward the low pressure center to form.

B: Summarize the AUTHORs main point or idea- at LEAST 1-2 paragraphs

The article The ocean and The weather states about the relationship between the ocean and the weather and how ocean affect the weather. The ocean and the atmosphere work together like a planetary thermostat, sharing nearly equally on the task of exporting heat from equatorial regions toward the poles. Sometimes the link between oceans and storms can be more explosive. Like the arctic air frequently sweep down across north America and Asia during winter. The ocean also generates intense storms at lower latitudes, in or around certain tropical regions. When the ocean provides a more stable source of moisture to the atmosphere it can create a weather pattern that affect society even more than hurricanes do- the monsoons. In general the ocean affects the atmosphere in ways that are hard to imagine either in a positive or negative ways.

C: Write a reaction paragraph to the article stating your own thoughts on the topic, using specific citations from the article to support your views I always thought that oceans were a part of something big because they are more than the of our world. Besides being home for animals, and other significant purposes for our universe I was surprised to learn that controls the

weather of the earth. What made this article different from the ones Ive read is that most of the things are occurring naturally so theres no specific thing we can do to completely prevent from happening but rather using all the technologies possible to predict the future and take all the cautions possible and make the damage as little as possible.

So what?

Says who?

oceans have a huge place in controlling the atmosphere What if...?

What does this remind me of?

there are some things that cant be There were technologies that can accurately forecast oceans effects on the weather? prevented from happening
