Abstract This article reports the American initiatives regarding to improve the records management by consider all the

work flow includes the facilities, education of worker and experienced counsel by existing organizations. Futhermore, this report also discuss issues about the archival management and preservation of digital records by Brazilian that relates concept of record management and archives. Introduction mmet !. After the war he worked briefly as $ational -icrofilm )ales -anager for ,emington ,and and %&./ he organized the $ational ,ecords 0ouncil, a non1profit organization to promote records management. #e also served as 0hair of a ,ecords -anagement Task Force for the #oover 0ommission 2%&.3 1 ./4. 5n %&(' "eahy left the $ational ,ecords 0ouncil to found "eahy Business Archives, off1site repositories for records, and "eahy 6 0ompany, a records management consulting company. #e managed both companies until his death in %&7.. 5n )eptember of %&.% "eahy had the opportunity to put his ideas into practice when he became the +irector of ,ecords 0oordination for the $avy in the 8ffice of the )ecretary of $avy. #e immediately began to organize a program of records administration that incorporated elements of records reduction he had articulated earlier. This program re9uired a staging area where records could be sent from operational units while they were being reviewed for disposal. This along with a growing demand for storage space for essential war material and supplies led to the development of the records center concept, which was the first such in the world. *nder "eahy:s leadership $avy records centers were opened in ;irginia, <ennsylvania, $ew =ork, and 0alifornia, and #awaii. "eahy recruited a microfilm specialist to implement a program to reduce the volume of paper records by filming them and destroying the originals. ,ecognizing that microfilm could be used to reduce the volume of engineering drawings, "eahy

organized a program to microfilm engineering drawings of submarines, destroyers, battleships, and aircraft. "eahy also focused his attention on work simplification through the elimination of unessential duplication of records and inefficient performance of essential functions of the $avy. To address unessential duplication, he initiated a survey of forms used in the $avy that identified one thousand two hundred and forty1eight reports or forms that could be eliminated or modified. "eahy also believed that records creation could be more efficient if form letters were used to answer repetitive correspondence. "eahy implemented a program called 0orrespondex that consisted of standard paragraphs that could be adapted as needed and then typed.

Summary 0urrently, the management of records have not changed in modern times. They are still the day to day function of record making and record filing, records value must be preserved, records preserved must have the physical facilities and finding media to provide access and the experienced contained in records must have be drawn upon and put to work. +ue to that, solution of modern problems in record management must therefore be in and by the operating agencies management.Any solution must capitalize on management>s engineering in the mechanization , specialization and duplication of record making and record keeping.
