Education makes a worthy contribution to our lives, by making us responsible citizens. We get to know our history and culture through education and imbibe those values. Education opens our mind and expands our horizon. It enables us to understand our duties as a citizen and encourages us to follow them. There is no denying the fact that an educated person is a better citizen. But sad to say, not all is enjoying what these facts hold. It is a good drive that the Department of Education is reaching out the Out-ofSchool Youths through Abot-Alam Program. The countrys out-of-school youth will be given yet another chance to finish their studies and pursue their dream career. Abot Alam is a joint program of the National Youth Commission, the departments of Interior and Local Government and Education, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and other government agencies designed to address the schoolingrelated problems of OSYs. OSYs in the country already number to 6.24 million in 2011 based on data from the National Statistics Office.http://thefilipinoconnection.net/osys-to-get-secondchance-under-abot-alam-program/ Under the said program, Francisco Oringo Sr. Elementary School Teachers were grouped into seven to extend the program to some purok of the Barangay were they situated, Barangay City Heights.
