EDUC 2220 Web Educational Technology Exam 2 STUDY GUIDE Exam 2 consists of 30 multiple choice questions, and you

can have up to one hour and 50 minutes to complete the exam. It is due on April 23rd. Please make sure to check Testing Center hours so that you wont get turned away when you go to take this exam. This exam is simply a review of the content from assignments 4-11. As long as youve read through each assignment and viewed any supplemental videos that go along with them, this exam should be quite easy. Use the study guide below to prepare for the exam, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions!! Assignment 4: In the video about QR codes titled Black, White, and Scanned all Over, what were the QR codes used for? For example, the science teacher would make a video of the labs, so that if students missed a day, they could catch up on the labs they missed. What were some of the other uses for QR codes in the video? What is Pic Monkey? What kind of a program is it (a web app or downloadable software?) What is GoAnimate? What are some of its features? What are users able to do with this web application? What is an embed code? How do we use them in this class for our blogs? Embed codes are generally coded in HTML/Javascript- make sure you are familiar with the fact the HTML/Javascript is the main computer language we use in this class. Assignment 5: What is an avatar in the world of educational technology? How can teachers use avatars to teach online students more realistically? What are some creative ways teachers are using avatars in their traditional classes, as well as online? What line of work is John Suler in? (a big hint should be that he writes a lot about the psychology of the internet).

Assignment 6: Make sure you look over the Assistive Technology powerpoint embedded in this weeks assignment. There will be questions about the IDEA law- what is IDEA, and what does is guarantee to ALL students with disabilities? Also, keep in mind that Assistive Technology allows both PHYSICAL and INTELLECTUAL access to educational materials in a unique way. AT might help students on a physical level- ie. it will help them hold a pencil, or move from room to room, or help them type on a touch screen. Students might use a text-to-speech application to help them understand a passage from a book. They might use an iPad application to help them with counting and vocabulary words. No matter what, AT helps students primarily in these two domainsintellectual and physical. Be able to name the five Ohio DL schools I asked you to explore in week 5.

Week 6: What was Salman Khans profession before he started the Khan Academy? What is the name of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) that Daphne Koller helped create? Take a look at the subject areas that the Khan Academy addresses. Notice it is heavy on the math and science. There are some humanities classes in history and civics, but thats about it. Be able to identify that the Academy does not offer a lot of humanities courses (it does not offer philosophy, writing, literature, etc). Daphne Koller made a very interesting point about peer grading, which is a huge part of MOOCs. If there are thousands of people enrolled in a class at one time, its impossible for the professor/teaching assistants to grade all the work. Instead, these classes use peer grading, where students grade each others work. What did Kollers research show about peer grading- were the results similar to if the professor would have graded the work, or were the scores higher...or lower? What are the main qualities of a MOOC? What does MOOC stand for? How have MOOCs helped to democratize access to education for people around the world? In his interview video, Salman Khan describes what flipping the classroom means. Be able to describe what this is. Daphne Koller explains that research shows that one-on-one instruction (also called one-on-one tutoring) is the best way for a person to learn something new. Why is this? What forms of instruction are NOT as effective as one-on-one tutoring? Assignment 8: At the beginning of assignment 8, there are some details about the teaching licensure structure in the state of Ohio. Be able to identify the following: What GRADE LEVELS taught with an Early Childhood teaching Licensure? Middle Childhood Licensure? Adolescent Young Adult Licensure? How many subject areas must a teacher with an Early Childhood licensure teach? How many subjects are taught with a Middle Childhood Licensure? An AYA licensure? What are Common Core Standards? What is the ORC? How did you use it for this assignment? Assignment 9: Revisit the National Education Technology Plan. There was a set of assumptions you were asked to read. Make sure you can identify those assumptions (PLEASE do not memorize them, just be able to identify the main idea of each of the five assumptions). What are the 21st Century Skills, according to the NETP? Both the NETP and OETP rely heavily on these 21st century skills- keep that in mind. Keep in mind that while the NETP and the OETP both have a lot of good information, neither provides us with clear details about how these plans will be funded. $$$

Assignment 10: What is a Web Application? Assignment 11: According to the statistics presented in the questions in assignment 11, are parents concerned about their teens internet use? Look at the infogram provided at the beginning of the Week 11 materials. Make sure you have an overarching grasp of the information being presented (you do NOT need to memorize any statistics, just make sure youve read the chart).
