1973 - Joined Communist Party of India (CPI). 1985, 1990 and 2002 Elected three times as MLA from 34-Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency (CPI candidate). Cabinet Minister 1. 1990 1992, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Science & Technology and Environment 2. 2002 2004, Arts & Culture and Sericulture. Represented India in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conferences: 1. 2004, The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Asia-Region Seminar , Hyderabad.

Important Events Organized:

International Cultural Conference and Festival (ICCAF), the first ever international event held in the State of Manipur, 1991 in honour of the United Nations call for a Cultural Decade (1987-1997). International Polo Tournament in Manipur (1990-1991). Players from all the Continents of the world participated. Manipur Festival 2003,Swabhoomi, Kolkata (INDIA). He also organized All Assam Peace Conference at Hojai (Assam) in December 1995 where the then Chief Minister of Assam Shri Hiteshwor Saikia was the Chief Guest. It was an important event organized at the time when there was a major riot between Hindus and Muslims and the event marked an important occasion in rebuilding peace and harmony between the two communities.

Veterinary & Animal Husbandry: Set up buffalo farm at wabagai in 1992. Visited Havana, Cuba 1992, in search of the highest milking Cow in the world Ubrae Blanca (Name of the cow) which gives 110 litres of Milk everyday. Was gifted with 200 such cows by the Cuban Government to Manipur but was not materialized due to the change in ministership.

He upgraded the Veterinary Department to a major Deptt. and Veterinary Service was introduced and as a result the Vety. Doctors could get equal status with that of Medical Doctors.

Sericulture: Procured Japanese Sericulture project (2004).
