Research Question (Criteria D) Are things going down the ramp faster when they are hot or is it faster

when the substance is cold?

Background Information: (Criteria D) It applies to our life because I people are colder they run slower but if people are hotter they tend to run faster. They need to know how to use a timer, and what pig fat is.

Hypothesis/ Research: (Criteria D) I believe that the hot substance would be faster than the cold substance by 2 times, I made this prediction because if the substance is hot the atoms move faster so it goes faster.

Procedure (Criteria D) Remember: If you didnt write it down, it didnt happen. Set up your lab by putting one bowl under a ramp/slide. Put one bowl of oil inside the fridge and the other outside, Heat the normal temperature Pig fat with a microwave for about 10 seconds or so. Heat the cold temperature pig fat with a microwave for about 5 seconds or so. Test the temperature of the Heated (10 seconds one) and then test the other, record it Use a tea spoon and scoop up one full spoon of Pig Fat. Drop all of the pig fat on the line and time it. Time the time it takes for the pig fat to go down Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you get 3 trials. Do the same with the cold pig fat and get 3 trials. Record all the data, and make an average.

Data Processing I (Data Table) (Criteria E)

Hot Pig fat 1.68 1.43 0.9

Cold Pig fat 12.98 17.98 14.15

Data Processing II (Graph) (Criteria E)

Visocity Lab with Pig Fat

Seconds it took for the pig fat to reach the bottom of the ramp
20 18 16 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 1 Hot Pig fat 2 Cold Pig fat 3

Data Processing III (Conclusion) (Criteria E) As I change between the hot pig fat and the cold pig fat the results change decrease/increase a lot, the effect of the hot/cold pig fat on the time it takes for the pig fat to go to the bottom of the ramp is very important, as soon as you change it the results will change a lot. Evaluation (Criteria D) Yes I did properly control my variable I made sure that I did the 2 nd trial right after the 1st trial, so the temperature of the oil does not change too much. No I do not need to include any

additional controlled variables to make my results more reliable because the results are fairly close meaning that I did the lab correctly. Yes I did include enough trials to make my experiment work but if I had more trials the results would be even more reliable. No I did not include enough of the experimental groups I could have included pig oil that is the same temperature as the room. No I would not make any changes in my procedure because I believe that my procedure is very good. Are things going down the ramp faster when they are hot or is it faster when the substance is cold? My data proves that substance goes down the ramp faster when it is hot rather than when it is cold.

My raw data (this data is just a simpler version of everything the reason I am putting this here is because I am not sure if I need to or not). Room is 26.6 degrees Pig fat (One Teaspoon of pig fat per trial) 65 Celsius (Hot) 1.68 1.43 0.9 Average 1.336 26.9` Celsius (Cold) 12.98 17.98 14.15 Average 15.036 Heat cellulous and freeze cellulose test temperature before I drip it
