ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Alan J. Stolzer, Ph.D. is Professor of Applied Aviation Science at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University, USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Quality Systems from Indiana State University, and several professional certications. His research interests include safety, quality, ight operations quality assurance, safety management systems, and emergency preparedness. Carl D. Halford has experience in many aspects of airline operations, including safety and quality, airline ight and simulator instruction, maintenance, management and union representation. He has an Airline Transport Pilot certicate and completed a Masters degree from DePaul University, with a specialization in Safety Management Systems. John J. Goglia is an active consultant, author, and educator in transportation safety. He served as a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board and was the rst Board Member to hold an FAA aircraft mechanics certicate. Mr. Goglia has been recognized many times for his contribution to aviation safety and currently serves on a number of Boards and advises several organizations, including the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association.
