Dear Student Organization or Student Leader, 
 
The Office of Multicultural Affairs would like to encourage you to participate in “Colors of KU”.   
This diversity training retreat will take place October 30‐November 1 at the Tall Oaks Camp 
Grounds. 
 
The retreat is designed to help leaders in your organizations and on the campus develop their 
commitment to issues of diversity.  Through interactive, experiential activities, students will 
explore their feelings, vision and opinions on diversity and multiculturalism. 
 
The retreat promises to be an unforgettable experience.  We encourage you to fill out the 
enclosed registration form and return it with a check for $15.00; this check will serve as a deposit 
only and will be returned when you arrive at the retreat.  All meals and lodging will be provided for 
the participants.  
 
Each participant is required to answer a few questions regarding “The impact they would like to 
make at KU in the area of diversity”.  These questions will be used to help facilitate selection for 
the retreat.  All applicants will be notified by October 16th of their selection status.   
 
Deadline for applications is October 14, 2009 by 5:00pm to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, 
1299 Oread Ave. Extra copies of the application can be obtained in the Office of Multicultural

Mission 
The retreat is designed to help leaders in your organizations and on the campus 
develop their commitment to issues of multicultural education. Through interactive 
activities, students explore their vision and opinions on multicultural issues. All 
meals and lodging will be provided for the participants. 
 
Application Instructions: 
ƒ The retreat is limited to the first 40 participants so turn in your application early! 
ƒ Complete and print application 
ƒ Submit a $15.00 deposit check (made payable to Office of Multicultural Affairs) to 
hold your place, the check will be returned to you at the retreat. If you are unable 
to make a deposit, please speak with Precious Porras, 785‐864‐4303.

ƒ  DEADLINE for applications is Friday, October 14, 2009.  
 
Orientation Meeting: 
All participants are required to attend an orientation meeting.. Please choose one of 
these 2 times:  
ƒ Monday October 19, 6:30 pm, Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center 
ƒ Tuesday, October 20, 3:00 pm, Pine Room, 6th Floor, Kansas Union 
 
Retreat schedule 
Buses will leave the Lied Center parking lot at 2pm on Friday, October 30. All 
participants are required to ride the bus.  The buses will return to Lawrence on 
Sunday, November 1 by 2pm. 
 
University Drug and Alcohol Policy 
The University of Kansas prohibits the unlawful possession, use, manufacture, or distribution of

University is committed to a program to prevent the illegal use of drugs and alcohol by students
