Old Business REPA 20140409 SGSU Swag (UA Committee) Action - White out pens not exactly sustainable, produced in China and shipped here - T-shirts may be the better option if the question is sustainability - Not comfortable with an official decision on this, with a more concrete plan Representative Bayuga Graff motions to table this item of business Representative Dickerson seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James REPA 20140416 Budget Update (Bharat Bhojwani) Discussion - Total budget: $81,200, spent and allocated $65,626.91 with around $16,000 remaining with Appropriations holding the largest portion - Reserves currently has around $16,000 and SURF has $4,000 - Without appropriations, there is a large amount of money left in publicity - May appropriate the swag money for a gift suitable to welcome the next SGSU

New Business REPA 20140423 Student Coalition for Faculty Rights (Joshua Sturman) Discussion - Three students in attendance as part of a student group seeking to support faculty - Student Code of Conduct enforced selectively (claims of use of harm through Student Code of Conduct as a retaliatory measure) - Requests: forums on the SCC, awareness of the SCC & what it contains - Specificity of the occasion: small actions piling up without mention of SCC and dean of students cited the SCC on the last occasion with potential threat of suspension and expulsion, problem is that there is no communication with the student about the situation - As students, adjunct faculty teaches a large portion of our classes and that adversely affects the students. Having strong support would allow educators to better educate students. - The coalitions stance is that the faculty should have the right to vote. - Requesting advocacy and openness about the SCC - Clarity is the most important step, the SCC is very unclear - Peers holding peers accountable is complicated - The university is not a public space, but the arguments are more about social justice Representative Ortiz: Was there any official communication in terms of evidence? Response: The evidence came in, but the minor infractions were not communicated to the student. The second infraction was only filed on the day that the second infraction took place. All incidents are related to unions. President Chalmers: Can you give some examples of places in the code of conduct that could be improved? Response: For example, swearing is still banned on campus and is written vaguely so that the school could count anything as obscenity and is regardless of timeline. Executive VP Barnes: How does the involvement of students in the conduct process like integrity board affect the way that the code of conduct works? Response: In this circumstance, there were no students involved, only school employees.

It is still up to the digression of the administration.

REPA 20140423 Environmental Justice of TFC (Austin Kawano) Discussion - A presentation Representative Kawano gave last week for the Alpha Sigma Nu Mission Day - Environmental impacts: global deforestation (trees burned to cure tobacco), cigarette butt litter, other environment effects - Tobacco industry is responsible for deforestation across the globe - One tree = 20 cigarettes - 4.95 trillion butts littered globally o Most littered item globally and locally - A lot of employee time given to picking up cigarettes (2,000 butts a week) o Find way to ocean marine life and other animals also consume cigarette butts making it into food - Cost about $400,000 a year at SU REPA 20140423 Constitutional Amendment SDR Position (Eric Chalmers) Action Representative Moak requests a motion to move this item to the top of New Business Representative Green moves the motion Representative Bayuga Graff seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James President Chalmers requests a motion to add Representative Moak to the action item Representative Davalos moves the motion Representative Almunif seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James The Position - Adding a Students with Disabilities Representative (SDR) as a full member of the Representative Assembly of the SGSU - The representative should identify as having a disability, as they will represent he interests of all students identifying with disabilities - Responsibilities include meeting with constituents & communicating needs to administration - Symbolic support for these students - Addendum allows for the event of extenuating circumstances arising that are related to the SDRs disability that make it impossible to attend, a way to address the disciplinary policies President Chalmers seeks a motion to enter a joint session Representative Ortiz moves the motion Representative Dickerson seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James Representative Moak seeks a motion to ratify this amendment adding the Students with Disabilities Representative (SDR) position VP of Finance Bhojwani moves the motion

President Chalmers seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James Representative Huey motions to leave joint session VP of University Affairs Carlson seconds the motion The motion passes unanimously with absentia from Representative James REPA 20140423 NJSGA (Eric Chalmers) Discussion National Jesuit Student Government Association - Every year a conference is held as a meeting of all Jesuit student leaders and governments - Attempting to gather further support together through a constitution - Over the summer at the annual conference (called NJSLC) of students from all the Jesuit universities all of the student body presidents met and decided to attempt to proceed with forming a national advocacy body to represent students at the Association for Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) as there is currently no formal student representation in the Association. - Almost all of expressed frustration in how we were all pressed at our respective schools to come up with examples of the practices of our peer institutions but often struggled to get into contact with many of them. - They came up with the National Jesuit Student Government Association.
