PROBLEM STATEMENT

America experienced 2.5 million home burglaries every year from 2009 to 2011. About 30% of these burglaries are committed through an open/unlocked door or window, and on top of that, 66% are residential break-ins. 85% of break-ins are from non-professionals, making them more desperate, and in turn, more dangerous. Only 17% of the homes in America have home security systems. A home invasion occurs every 13 seconds. Home Owners are most at risk in July and August during the day while occupants are at school or work. Furtheremore, businesses could use a security system, as seven percent of annual revenue is taken by theft or fraud. 42.7 percent of employee theft and 35.6 percent of shoplifting are the sources of inventory loss, and fifty billion dollars was lost last year based on theft.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Our product will be a camera with 2 axes of rotation. It would be attached to the ceiling at every entrance known, and a few more within the interior of the complex. The camera will have either one or two Tasers attached to it, and will be able to detect any anomalies. In total the product will weigh five pounds and only be priced around 400 dollars. It will contact the local authority if it picks up anything out of the ordinary, and will take its orders to fire the Taser from such authority. It is intended to act as a typical surveillance system during the day, as well as immediate action that is lacking in current surveillance systems, so that it can catch if any employee stole a product, and will be able to stop an outside thief, or even a potential murderer.

OPERATION
The product works by the use of two servos that will rotate the camera/Taser in the x and y axis, in order to be able to have full view of the area. The cameras will be Wi-Fi and connect to a local server that holds the motion tracking software necessary to track perpetrators. The Tasers will use a mechanism connected to the application that can control the individual cameras. The server will also analyze the data received from the cameras and notify the local authority through Wi-Fi on an application. The user will be able to control the firing, and possibly the x and y positioning of the camera through the interface on the app.

JUSTIFICATION
This product solves the problem by stopping any unwarranted persons on the property immediately, and at the very least can identify the invader, or even in a business format, it could catch employees who steal from their employer, which is a major problem in businesses. This design surpasses our others in almost every single category of cost, development time, efficiency, marketability, and complexity. It achieved a score of 42, which surpasses the second place idea by eleven points, making it the obvious choice. It is better than normal security systems in that it offers an immediate solution to the problem of thefts and violent crimes.

JUSTIFICATION SUBJECTS
The camera system with attached Tasers saves on money because of the lack of components in play. As compared to the other options, which include the quad-rotor, dog collar, sentry, boulder, and a mix of the sentry and quad-rotor, this option is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the next closest solution, at least until the number of cameras increases. It saves time because of the simplicity of the idea, which consists of programs, a camera with servos, and Tasers. This is much simpler than a quad-rotor that interacts with a security system, and is only met by the boulder idea, but is better than it in any other category besides complexity. It improves the quality of life by saving businesses and people from having their items stolen from them. It also can prevent injury by saving lives from any potential murderers, and could stop forcible rapes. For businesses, it can reduce the hassle of hiring a security guard to keep control of the area, while this security system would eliminate the need for a security guard.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS RENEWED

Target Consumer- The target consumer was mostly for homeowners, yet with this new product the focus has shifted more towards businesses. Customer Needs-The only thing that changed is the adjusted focus to the surveillance part, while the active Taser part takes more of a backseat option. Performance-The deadly part of the previous design has been dropped in favor of a more moderate stopping mechanism with a Taser, which was an option before, but was the least effective of the options. Target Cost-The expected cost can be two-hundred dollars per camera system, with an additional cost for a good server around 800 dollars. Size and Weight-The size and weight of the camera systems would be considerably less than the mobile turret, as it would encompass less devices, and would weigh about five pounds in total.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS (CONT.)

Aesthetics-The cameras will be a sleek and modern design, with Tasers that would preferably be smaller to allow efficient movement of the cameras. Safety and Legal Issues-The complications that came with manning an automated gun before fly out the window with the permanent replacement of a stapler instead, which requires a lot less hassle with legalization efforts. Ergonomics-Each camera system would run off of the local power supply. Operating Environment-The operating environment would be generally the same, yet it would be a smaller target for invaders to potentially damage, and may be out of immediate reach depending on the ceiling height. Global Environment-It will literally be the same as the first design specification. Service Life, Product Life, and Durability and Maintenance will be the same, all though hardware updates would probably be less often.
