Yan, also known as "Chiral" or "ChiralS ym." For matters regarding this work, you can reach me via e-mail: snfe.agaupt@ gmail.com Initially the model was created in Electric Image Animation System's 3d Modeler as a combination of NURBS and sub-division objects. NURBS were useful for smoot hness and for precise boolean operations, as well as chamfers, such as rounds.

Some of the NURBS were re-topologized as subdivision surfaces because the NURBS patches became too numerous with complex topology. Some of the subdivision surf aces were then back-converted into NURBS for further boolean and rounding operat ions (in Electric Image Modeler, this is the UberNURBS feature). For example, t he top face of the violin follows the following process: NURBS-->Sub-D-->NURBs->Boolean cut to make the f-holes-->Rounding of the f-hole edges. All geometry was tessellated by Electric Image Modeler into a Wavefront .obj fi le and also converted by Meshlab 1.3.1 into a .stl file. Due to the left-handed coordinate system in Electric Image Modeler, some polygon normals had to be man ually reversed. There is no guarantee of authenticity or accuracy of the violin geometry; this m odel has several flaws in detail and form which I hope to correct in the future. It does not have a bass bar, nor a sound-post.
