Male Anatomy

The Shaft
The Penis
Consists of nerves, blood vessels, fibrous tissue, and three parallel cylinders of spongy tissue. It doesnt contain any bone just tissue.

Root
The part that extends into the pelvic cavity

Shaft
The length of the penis between the glans and the body

The Shaft
Glans
The smooth, acorn-shaped head that contains nerve ending that makes the head very sensitive to touch.

Cavernous Bodies
One of the three cylinders, the largest out of the three. It fills with blood during sexual arousal

The Shaft
Spongy Bodies
The smallest cylinder that forms a bulb at the base of the penis. It forms penile glands.

Foreskin
A covering over the penile glans. The foreskin will retract, or it will often be removed at birth.

The Scrotum
The Scrotum
A pouch of skin that is an out pocket, underneath the penis. It contains the testes. It normally hangs loose, but in cold weather and sexual arousal it moves closer to the body.

The Testes
Two main functions, the secretion of sex hormones and the production of sperm.

The Seminiferous Tubules

Thin high coiled structures in the tested where sperm is produced

The Scrotum
The Epididymis
This structure lays along the back of each testis where sperm maturation is occurred

The Vas Deferens

The sperm from the epididymis will drain into the Vas Deferens. The sperm will travel up with long thin cord from the scrotum inside the spermatic cord.

The Scrotum
The Seminal Vesicles
Two small glans that secretes alkaline fluid. They are adjacent to the terminals of the vas deferens. The alkaline fluid is rich in fructose. This secretion is 70% of the seminal fluid.

The Prostate Gland

The prostate gland is located at the base of the bladder and produces 30% of the seminal fluid. Both ejaculation and urethra ducts pass though.

The Cowpers Gland

Two pea sized glands located alongside the base of the urethra. Before ejaculation, the Cowpers gland releases a fluid called pre-ejaculation to clean out the acidic urethra.

How the Reproductive System Works

Erection- When the male is sexually aroused, the brain sends signals and engorges the penis with blood and increases the size.
Semen- Fluid that is ejaculated out of the penis that contains sperm and fluid from the prostate, seminal vesicles, and Cowpers glands.

How the Reproductive System Works.

Ejaculation- The process in which semen is released from the body through the penis. Ejaculation occurs in two stages.
Emission Phase: The prostate, seminal vesicles, and the upper portion of the Vas Deferens start contracting. Also know as the Point of no Return. Expulsion Phase: The semen is released from the penis by strong contractions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFlUqgYqt1A
