We have reviewed the information on the Early Financial Aid Form that you completed and have determined an estimate of your financial aid
eligibility. Please be aware that the Office of Financial Aid determines your need and the aid package for which you are eligible. We have
given this information to the Department of Athletics so that the coach can speak with you first, but their department cannot be involved in
the actual determination of need-based financial aid eligibility. If you have any questions about your financial aid estimate or any other
financial aid issues, we encourage you to contact the Office of Financial Aid and speak with one of our staff members.
Regarding the financial aid estimate, please keep in mind the following:

• ESTIMATE—This is an estimate and not an actual financial aid award. In order for the Office of Financial Aid to make an
official award determination for you, you must be officially accepted and apply for financial aid for the 2010-11 academic year.
• CSS PROFILE—By January 15, 2010, you must file the actual official 2010-11 CSS PROFILE online with the College
Scholarship Service (CSS) at www.collegeboard.com.
• INCOME CHANGES—If your actual tax return figures are markedly different from what you reported on the early read form or
CSS PROFILE, then your estimate will be reduced, so please be prepared for this situation.
• FAFSA—By April 15, you must file the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov with
the federal processor.
• TAX FORMS—By May 10, 2010, if you decide to enroll, you will need to submit to our office signed copies of all pages of your
and your parents’ 2009 federal tax returns and parent W-2 forms, our Verification Worksheet, and any other forms we may require.
Any delays in your submission of these documents will cause delays in the disbursement of your aid in the fall.
• NEED-BASED—Bucknell Scholarship is NEED-BASED. It is not merit-based, is not athletics-based, is not guaranteed each year,
and is not automatically awarded for four years. You must apply for financial aid every year. If you apply by our deadline and your
family’s financial situation (income, assets, number of undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time in degree seeking
programs) stays at the same level each year, you should expect your need-based aid to remain at the same level. However, eligibility
depends on the official determination from the Office of Financial Aid. Increases in income/assets and decreases in the number of
full-time degree-seeking undergraduates in college will decrease your need-based aid eligibility in later years. (However, non-need-
based awards and merit aid such as Presidential, Dean’s and Campus Enrichment awards are renewable each year.)
• MUST RE-APPLY FOR AID ON TIME EVERY YEAR—You must apply by our deadline each year. If you do not, any need-
based scholarship will be reduced. Financial aid is your responsibility, and you must be familiar with deadlines and required
documents so that your application will be processed and aid awarded in a timely fashion.
• BILLED COSTS—Our estimate of the comprehensive cost for the 2010-11 academic year is $51,500 which includes tuition
($41,300), fees ($225), average room ($5,875), and average board ($4,100). (Our total gift aid will not exceed $51,500.) If you
choose higher cost room and board options than the amounts included in the published comprehensive cost, then you will be
responsible for the additional costs. Incidental costs such as books, supplies, travel, personal, etc. are not included in these billed
costs and are the responsibility of the family. An estimate of these incidentals is about $2,000, but yours may vary.
