The Role of the Saints in Judgment

Daniel 7:19-28 "Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was
different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze clawsthe
beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. I
also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came
up, before which three of them fellthe horn that looked more imposing than the others
and that had eyes and a mouth that spoke boastfully. As I watched, this horn was waging
war against the saints and defeating them, until the Ancient of Days came and
pronounced judgment in faor of the saints of the !ost "igh, and the time came
when they possessed the #ingdom. "e gave me this e!planation" #The fourth beast is a
fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms
and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. The ten horns are ten
kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different
from the earlier ones$ he will subdue three kings. e will speak against the %ost igh
and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. $he saints will %e
handed oer to him for a time, times and half a time. " &'ut the court will sit, and his
power will %e ta#en away and completely destroyed foreer( $hen the soereignty,
power and greatness of the #ingdoms under the whole heaen will %e handed oer to
the saints, the people of the !ost "igh( "is #ingdom will %e an eerlasting #ingdom,
and all rulers will worship and o%ey him(# "This is the end of the matter. I, &aniel, was
deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to
myself."
!atthew 21: $he $riumphal )ntry
As they approached 'erusalem and came to (ethpage on the %ount of )lives, 'esus sent
two disciples, saying to them, "*o to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a
donkey tied there, with her colt by her. +ntie them and bring them to me. If anyone says
anything to you, tell him that the ,ord needs them, and he will send them right away."
This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet"
"-ay to the &aughter of .ion, #-ee, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a
donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.# /.echariah 0"01
The disciples went and did as 'esus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and
the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and 'esus sat on them. A very large crowd spread
their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the
road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
"osanna

/save1 to the -on of &avid2"
"(lessed is he who comes in the name of the ,ord2"
/
3salm 445"671
"osanna

in the highest2"
8hen 'esus entered 'erusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "8ho is this9" The
crowds answered, "This is 'esus, the prophet from :azareth in *alilee."
*esus at the $emple
'esus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. e
overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the benches of those selling doves. ;It is
written," he said to them, " #%y house will be called a house of prayer, #but you are
making it a #den of robbers." The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he
healed them. (ut when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful
things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "osanna to the -on of
&avid," they were indignant. "&o you hear what these children are saying9" they asked
him. "<es," replied 'esus, "have you never read, #=rom the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise#9" /3salm 5"61 And he left them and went out of the city to
(ethany, where he spent the night.

>arly in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. -eeing a fig
tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it e!cept leaves. Then he said to it,
"%ay you never bear fruit again2" Immediately the tree withered. 8hen the disciples saw
this, they were amazed. "ow did the fig tree wither so ?uickly9" they asked. 'esus
replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what
was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, #*o, throw yourself into
the sea,# and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in
prayer."
$he Authority of *esus -uestioned
'esus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the
elders of the people came to him. "(y what authority are you doing these things9" they
asked. "And who gave you this authority9" 'esus replied, "I will also ask you one
?uestion. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
'ohn#s baptismwhere did it come from9 8as it from heaven, or from men9" They
discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, #=rom heaven,# he will ask, #Then
why didn#t you believe him9# (ut if we say, #=rom men#we are afraid of the people, for
they all hold that 'ohn was a prophet." -o they answered 'esus, "8e don#t know." Then
he said, ":either will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
$he .ara%le of the $wo /ons
"8hat do you think9 There was a man who had two sons. e went to the first and said,
#-on, go and work today in the vineyard.# #I will not,# he answered, but later he changed
his mind and went. "Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. e
answered, #I will, sir,# but he did not go. "8hich of the two did what his father wanted9"
"The first," they answered. 'esus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the ta! collectors and
the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of *od ahead of you. =or 'ohn came to you to
show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the ta! collectors
and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
$he .ara%le of the $enants
",isten to another parable" There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. e put a wall
around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the ineyard to
some farmers /husbandmen @ same word for tenants1 and went away on a Aourney.
8hen the harvest time approached, he sent his serants to the tenants to collect his
fruit. The tenants seized his servants$ they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.
Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them
the same way. ,ast of all, he sent his son to them. #They will respect my son,# he said.
"(ut when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, #This is the heir. Bome, let#s
kill him and take his inheritance.# -o they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and
killed him. "Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those
tenants9" "e will bring those wretches to a wretched end," they replied, "and he will rent
the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time."
'esus said to them, "ave you never read in the -criptures" " #The stone the builders
reAected has become the capstone$ the ,ord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes9
"Therefore I tell you that the #ingdom of 0od will %e ta#en away from you and gien
to a people who will produce its fruit. e who falls on this stone will be broken to
pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.C 8hen the chief priests and the 3harisees
heard 'esus# parables, they knew he was talking about them. They looked for a way to
arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a
prophet.
1 1orinthians 2: 1-8 &oes any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare
to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints9 )r do you not know that
the saints will judge the world9 If the world is judged %y you, are you not competent
to constitute the smallest law courts9 &o you not know that we will judge angels9 ow
much more matters of this life9 -o if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life,
do you appoint them as Audges who are of no account in the church9 I say this to your
shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide
between his brethren, but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers9
Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another.
8hy not rather be wronged9 8hy not rather be defrauded9 )n the contrary, you
yourselves wrong and defraud. <ou do this even to your brethren.
