Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
You may be aware of what has been happening with us over the last
few weeks, but we wanted to send out this letter to let you know of
more recent events and plans. Our last Newsletter did not get printed
as planned in May, so let me bring you up to date.
Because of Cheryls continued problem with uterine bleeding, she
and Brian returned to the States the end of April to get a proper
dia^osis and treatment. I remained behind in Zambia to finish up
various jobs with the churches and to arrange for the storage of our
things and the rental of our house. By the end of May, things looked
pretty good and the Lord had cleared the way for my return. In the
States, Cheryl was diagnosed and treated for a benign fibroid growth
in her uterus, and we praise the Lord that all is now well with her.
I arrived back in the States during the first part of June and
we have been getting back into the American way of life. Our return
was about 3 months earlier than our planned return in September, but
we were happy that everything seemed to work out fine for an earlier
furlough.
Already we are involved in three youth camps this summer and are
putting together a schedule for visiting churches and presenting what
the Lord is doing in our area of Zambia. We continue to look for a
house in which to live and trust that one will be available before we
finish our camp schedule.
The Lord has been working in our hearts and minds about the future
direction of our ministry. At this time, we plan to be home for one
year, locating in the Portland area and taking some courses in local
colleges, and ministering in ways the Lord shows us.
We are so thankful for your support and concern during the last
difficult months. In the future we look forward to being with you and
sharing some of the things the Lord has taught us during our ministry
in Zambia. As we look back at this experience and work, we cannot be
thankful enough for the opportunities we had to share Christ's love
and message with our Christian Brothers in Zambia, and the lost that
we still seek to reach.
Please pray with us concerning the future direction of the work
in Mbala. As you may be aware, much is happening in Africa today
that threatens the presence of foreign missions. We are seeking ways
of serving and assisting the local Christians in Africa to carry on
their ministries effectively without the presence 6f the missionary.
Pray for the Body of Jesus Christ in Mbala, Zambia that they will
continue to be bold in living the Christian life.
Write to us at the above address and let us know when we can
come to visit you; we consider you a part of our ministry.
In Christ's Service,
Lee, Cheryl and Brian Albaugh
